Tested p20 pro for good half day today. It's a great phone, but not the best phone you can buy out there.

S9+ is still a better all rounder phone.

They are my personal opinions:

1- the display, despite it is an AMOLED, it is more like iPhone X oled, not a Samsung type where the colour is super vibrant and crisp. Yes, both are good, but my eyes are so used to Sammy's colour profile so at 1st glance, p20 pro looks a bit dull.

2- full hd+ display is still and can never be as sharp as 2k display. Bear in mind i compare these 2 phones side by side, so maybe that's why i noticed the difference.

3- the speaker is loud, but very empty or 'hollow', unlike s9+ excellent loudspeaker.

4- less features such as no microSD slot, no wireless charger.

5- kirin 970 is a bit outdated compare to exynos 9810 n Snapdragon 845. It is like you are buying flagship phone with last year's Snapdragon 835. Still fast, but better n newer one is around.

6- emui interface is very messy.

7- Huawei still use the combination of physical button and on screen button (if you don't use gesture mode) which is redundant and silly.

Personally, i think it is a great phone.. but my statement is, s9+ is a better phone if you compare them both.

Well i dont hv time to be a fanboy. I am a gadget enthusiast, i changed phones frequently everytime flagship device released, esp by these brands: pixel, htc, samsung, apple, huawei and LG.

I am here in this thread because I already aim to buy the p20 pro twilight to replace my LG V30+ as my 2nd phone.. now i dunno if i should wait or just get black/blue colour.

I always use google pixel launcher in all my phones. But the emui is more than just a launcher, in setting etc.
Btw the new touchwiz is not that good either, but for me emui is one step below the touchwiz in terms of looks.

Nova launcher has more customizations while still remains smoothness. I don't need those customization so i stick with google launcher.

Im now one of the user~! Just bought p20 pro blue colour to replace my v30+ blue colour as my secondary phone.

Anyone knows where to find good tempered glass for it? The one i bought has very poor coating - too many smudges n fingerprint.

Btw since this is my 1st Huawei device since p10 plus, just wonder does huawei fix the issue of p10/p10 plus where they simply dont put any coating on the screen?

I did quick comparison between s9+ and p20 pro. Hard to find winners. But bokeh effect photos, definitely p20 pro better.

Dark scenario, i think s9+ photo is a bit brighter but obviously cause the photo to hv much noise than p20 pro.

Honestly, both capture great photos and hard find 1 winner because it depends on type of image..

Huuu as much as i love this phone, i dunno how long i can stick with it. It doesn't support clipboard copy paste which is very essential in my work.

Ability to copy multiple set of text or images, then paste them from clipboard. This huawei if u copy 2 set of text, the 1st one will be erased and cant be paste anymore.

to be fair though, not all smartphones have clipboard feature, eventhough android itself allows it

Not mainly. Mostly are still on pc / macs. The remaining stage is on mobile. Android n ios.

haha well just say that everyone has their own needs and way to view things


true. the feature is built in no matter what keyboard you are using.


thanks for the info. maybe because I'm using gboard instead of swiftkey. my last 3 androids (note 8, pixel 2xl, lg v30+ and s9+) all support clipboard built into the system. so no matter what keyboard you are using, the feature is still there.

I dunno about review and don't really care. I have 3 phones now.. s9+, v30+ and p20 pro and honestly i always prefer p20 pro to take picture.

About this p20 pro, if there is one thing i have to complain, it is the resolution. I wish it is QHD+ screen. I know at the moment the screen is very good already, and I might not notice any difference (with s9+ or v30+) but I just love huge numbers and want the best possible.

What's wrong with buying phone at full price? As far as i know, the most expensive mainstream phones are iPhone X (put aside those special edition mate rs Porsche edition, s6 edge ironman), and that is only around 5.9k rrp.

Only bloody fool will think it is a must to purchase with telco or lazada, just to save few hundreds.
