Anyone using the Type-C earphone bundled with the smartphone? Not sure if P20 and P20 Pro have the same earphones bundled, but this thing is the best I have heard in a while given how its a bundled earphone, which I expected it to be a complete crap like usual. I have owned many headphones and earphones, so this is quite unexpected.

It's not. I'm very surprised. Although by default the low end is kind of of overhyped (muddies the mids and highs), I managed to create some EQ presets that gives it more clarity and a lot more balanced sounding while preserving the good top end already present with the earphones.

If anyone wants them, feel free to look at them below. I know they're not for everyone. Maybe these presets only sound good to me. tongue.gif

---

(1) Better Balance and Clarity -- My favourite
Attached Image
This is my currently favorite preset. I toned down the lows so that they're not overhyped and doesn't muddy the rest of the spectrum. I also added a little boost in the mids, making it enjoyable for almost all kinds of music. I listen to rock, metal, jazz, electronic, pop and even some classical. So far, so good.

(2) Better Balance and Clarity + Bass Boost
Attached Image
If you feel like you need more bass, don't worry. I have you covered. However, this boost mostly in the very low ends of the bass, or sub bass. They make a huge difference, and might not be suitable for music like rock, jazz or metal because they (the bass) tend to be too loud with this preset.

(3) More Bass and Mids please
Attached Image
I don't know what you'd use this for but if you feel like you need more boost in the mids, for guitar or vocals, you can use this one. Your taste. I don't really like this one.

---

By the way, does anyone know the make and model of the earphones? biggrin.gif

Both P20 and P20 Pro are equally good phones. Just go with your liking and budget.
If you want a bigger screen and triple lens camera, then the Pro is for you. if you want compact iPhone X size, then P20 is adequate. I feel both have equally good cameras.
*
I agree. Camera-wise, both should be equally good, although more points in low light for the P20 Pro. Depending on the kind of photos you like to take, the P20 should be as good as the P20 Pro in most cases.

Speaking of size, the P20 Pro is actually very comfortable to hold despite its size.

u can never turned off AI mode. very dissapointing. using p20p since launch.
*
Hmm, can't you turn off AI by disable Master AI in the camera settings menu? 🤔 Or is it a different AI that automatically 'enhances' the photo no matter what?

Anyway, the camera is so fun to use. I'm not a photographer, so just some noob feeling happy with his photos.

5X zoom test. I thought 5X is the maximum zoom lol, didn't know it's actually a slider. AI mode turned on, "Greenery" mode enabled it said on the screen. It looks super green, not sure how I feel about it but I like the details on this photo.
The Lightroom magic was a built in preset that saves the hassle of changing the green to some autumn like scenery, plus some manual enhances. I like it, don't know about the rest of the world. smile.gif

I usually don't care about camera on smartphones even though I've switched from a few flagships. This is fun though. Thank you, Huawei.

Edit: Silly me, of course attaching it here will ruin the photo. I don't know how to make them smaller though.

I bought the Spigen Rugged Armor together with the P20p and I love it. It makes holding the phone much easier. The rubbery texture on the back is lovely. It's fun. And to be honest, it's very sleek and elegant as well. I love it.

I love the Blue finishing on my P20p but this is just as good. I'd probably think differently if I have the Twilight back but most likely not since I love Spigen cases. Sturdy and comfy.

Did you guess immediately by looking at the photos or...? laugh.gif

I think it's also obvious by looking at the bokeh effect on Phone B.

Can see Phone B is from the P20 pro due to its larger sensor thus shallower depth of field. Close up photos will look "blur" in a way,l. I don't really prefer this so for food photos I keep a distance until the whole frame looks sharp.
*
It seems that P20p can't handle close up food shots really well. But the zoom might be a nice work around for that.

I also tried the same shots with the 40MP setting, but they weren’t any better than the 10MP ones for those particular shots.
*
40MP is actually known to look less sharper than 10MP since the most processing (stabilising, etc.) is only used when in 10MP mode if I remember correctly.

I had the chance to try out the Pro mode one night during the Raya a couple of weeks ago. The results were astonishing. The place was not as dark as it seems in these photos. I played around a little bit with the ISO and shutter speed settings to get the black background. Manual focus, because well, humans breathe.

Hi,
any screen protector FRONT and BACK for P20 Pro?

Which screen protector u guys recommend for P20 Pro?

Thx smile.gif
*
I use the ClearPlex screen protector on the front with a Spigen casing. Back so far none yet, I haven't been bothered to look for a protector although it might be a good idea since it's glass back.

Yeah, night shots are good. Just need to figure out the other normal shots, haha. I've left the default setting to 10MP as well. Looks better.
*
A few pages back I actually a photo I took of a tree. Normal Photo mode for this one.
This was done with 5X zoom. 10MP as well and AI was enabled.

I think for close up stuff, the hardest is to keep the depth of field consistent and not overly done while maintaining the sharpness.

Nice shots! The original one does look a little over saturated for me, but most reviews warned that enabling AI might have that kinda results. That said, it’s still a good photo nonetheless.
*
Yeah, the AI Greenery mode made it like that. Sometimes I turn it off. Still, the details are undeniably amazing.

Any bluetooth earphone that working with p20 pro? Bought sonic gear sports 200 but after paired the sound cut off and on continuosly. Tried with JBL bluetooth speaker all good. Weird.

But that same bt earphone working OK with my wife iphone SE.
*
I have an IK Multimedia iLoud speakers that I used with the phone quite a few times. It seems that this phone, much like my OnePlus 3, still suffers from a weird Bluetooth "problem", where if you sometimes cover the back of the phone, the Bluetooth will almost loses its connection. I tried with my Chord Hugo headphones amplifier, it is also the same. I'm starting to think that this might be common among Android smartphones.

oh ya guys, can i just check with you on the battery of your p20 pro?

i have been using it for 2 full days.

my phone has been unplugged after a full charge to 100% at about 11.30am yesterday. running till now with 10% left.

my SOT is about 6 hours on the hardware side.
on the software side, my whatsapp is taking the most battery usage with about 12% and followed by fb about 4.11%

normal? how about yours?
*
That's great. Mine have not been that great since I started to play a lot of games on my P20 Pro, which I almost never did on my older smartphones. I probably have nothing better to do these days. Anyway, mine could go on for as long as I'm awake until I go to sleep. Which is pretty impressive.

How do you turn on the camera sound on WhatsApp and Insta story? I already muted the camera and phone on silent but still got shutter sound when I take pic directly on WhatsApp and Insta.
*
I think those apps uses their own sounds? Not sure, but P20/Pro doesn't seem to have an option to mute camera shutter sounds like my OnePlus 3 did. I can't even remember if WhatsApp and Instagram actually made any shutter sounds on my OP3 since I rarely use the camera on those apps.

P20 pro have OIS like S9?

I mean is this AIS working really good like OIS? Now torn if want to swap my p20 pro for s9.
*
According to iFixit, yes, it does. On all 3 cameras at the back. Not sure if those OIS are actually being used however.

Well, in the past two weeks this didn't occur, but suddenly last night, it came out rogue with a vengeance, ha ha....

Yeah, maybe I'll need to try that - optimizing it before leaving it on when I go to bed.

It's common for any Facebook apps to drain your battery for no reason at random days. Sometimes it's ok, sometimes it's like a thirsty man after a marathon pouring the water all over his face.
It's quite annoying really. And it's not only Facebook too. yawn.gif

I would stick with. 130 first as I found there are a lot of negative feedback with. 152 in China Huaweu forum and now they received newer version. 167 to patch it.

Please do share us your usage and experience with. 152 here especially battery consumption and camera performance.
*
Do you mind telling us what the negatives were and do you know what is the changelog for 167?
