For this phone use 1080p setting for video not 4k. That has very very good stabilization you can shake the phone it stays stable. You can try at the shops remember select 1080p. It works for p20 too.

dxo tests 1080p videos thats how it got such high score in video recording. Maybe their next chip the hardware will be powerful enough to use their stabilization system for 4k videos.

What is clear is that the P20P's 40MP Camera doesn't deliver quite well as people might think it should be. Almost all reviewers highlighted the purple fringing issue on the P20P 40MP.

It's not meant to be used in 40mp setting, 10mp has no purple fringe issue. 10mp has better quality from all the reviews.

Dude, it IS meant to be used in 40mp. Huawei just know that the 40MP quality is really bad that is why the default setting is 10MP (to utilize the 2.0 µm sensor).
Huawei thought they can get away with their gimmick unnoticed.
*
Nope lol. GSMarena explained it pretty well, it's a 40mp camera designed to shoot 10mp photos. In 10mp it has auto-hdr, zoom, less noise, better detail so how can you say it's a gimmick, everything is better in 10mp.

Read this. And yes pureview is the father of this method like that guy said so you google search that too.

People get too caught up with specs and numbers. Like the mate 10's screen, so many complains of cheaper version getting 2k but the 1080p screen was clearly better so is the number so important if it can't accurately convey quality? But either way p20 is a good deal, it gets the most important feature night mode and it has a pretty big sensor itself anyway.

I think you don't get my point here.
Ironic how you pointed out the "specs and numbers" game where it was Huawei who is taunting the 40MP in the first place smile.gif

What taunting, it IS a 40mp sensor. Did you even read the article, it explains fully the technical reasons. This is simply a better way to make a big camera for a small form factor. They did not mess up anything.
