We need to find answer to these questions :-
1. Why is there a difference between the west and east ?
Just like the case of Christmas celebration, the EM PAS member says we should go and celebrate Xmas together with the Christians, the WM PAS says no, don't do it, it is wrong from Islamic teaching. True enough he is able to cite certain clauses somewhere to justify his point.
2. Is this practice of acceptance of diversity existing in EM going to persist or it will be overwhelmed by world wide trend of increasing anti-diversity interpretation ?
1. If you look at the muslims race in EM you will find thay they are not like WM where the majority is pure malay. In EM for the same race you can find they may not be naturally muslims, for example there are plenty of muslims kadazandusun in keningau, different thing if you move to penampang for example where for the same race the majority is christians. Due to mass mix marriage even those with malay brunei or native such as bajau which are predominantly muslims have also mixed and have family relationship with other races which are not dominantly muslims. So for EM the WM views is not compatible, because severing family ties is a no no.
Same thing with bumiputra status, chinese in EM is not really against this policy due to mix marriage. A WM chinese who marries EM native spouse also can have bumi status children. BUT you must for apply (Mykad, mykid) for it at JPN EM, not at WM. Ppl with chinese blood but having ASB is not uncommon.
2. Local culture not just the ppl. Something that is okayed for Selangor is not necessarily ok for Kelantan.
Since the church is in EM, everyone is silent, imagine if its in WM.This post has been edited by Mea Culpa: Jan 12 2019, 01:38 PM
