I would rather recommend you buy one of those generic collapsible rubber lens hoods (usually under S$20 from Ebay) that screws on to your lens' filter ring.

AlamakLor,
Quite Good actually. The difference in colour contrast with your lens and body isn't that great. But the visible selo tape can be made neater and probably replaced with a double sided tape.... Can go and bull that you're using some NEW light absorption material |

I went out today with my lens, without the hood...and i was surprised that 70% of my pictures got destroyed by flare, but they were actually salvageable with photoshop.
The tape was temporary...I didnt have any velcro with me. I sew them together today and also cut off all those flanges...now it looks like a normal hood and I can slide it onto the lens barrel without problem. I'm gonna make another one tomorrow, with the slightly lonfger neck so that I can slide it in deeper. |

random stuff. it's not the normal flares where you can see circles/streak of lights on the picture...it is the flares that cause the pictures to look pale in contrast to one taken without any flares.
I made another one today, this time I enlarged the size with photoshop to 102%. It is ever slightly larger but the neck is now longer and has better grip on the lens barrel. I've also cut a small holder under the hood for me to access my CPL. ![]() ![]() gonna bring it out for a little test run tomorrow. The color contrast among the hood, body, and lens is not drastic under all lighting condition besides a direct flash. |

please be advised that the material will still reflect some light into your lens from the inside as it is reflective.
Try to hold up a real hood at eye level and look inside, it won't reflect as much light as your material. |

Brought the lens out today again with the hood, works very well and pictures turn out very well as well. However, I noticeed that the flare problem is not from the hood, it's from my freaking CPL! looks like I need something even better than Hoya.
