I can digest that logic. That does make sense. I was under the assumption that simple electronics (mp3 players, HU, yada yada) is not permeable to virus due to its simplicity.

Anyway, one more question ya sifus. I’ve came accriss a read that says we can’t crawl with clutch cvt. That basically a big sign saying ‘screw you and your KL-Cyberjaya trip’. Aside from waiting for a sufficient distance between us and the car in front to move, is there any other way to overcome this issue? Or maybe our clutch is well-designed not to wear out for years like my old, loyal 1998 iswara aeroback manual?

I feel you there. It’s like losing an old friend. Always there when we need them. Running strong even after a whole 10 months with no EO change (cause I forgot). No sweat. Cool aircond. Penang - Pahang (genting, mind you) - JB, no problem. Selamba stay right lane. That fella really hard to die.

Andddd a fella from India rammed the back of my precious iswara. Cbkia. Now have to buy new car since repair cost > market price of the car even with insurance

I got my persona with Good Year tires as well. I guess they do listen, how much people hate that silverstone ones.

Getting into big roundabouts sent shivers to my spine thanks to the 1 sec delay.

But other than that it is a good car.

Deafening silence in state permissible speed and even at 130km/h I can barely hear the droning.

1. Normal. It should be the sound of the engine/CVT slowing down rapidly as a response to us, shutting down the power. Dunno which. but the same sound made by my parent's Grand Livina as well.
2. I guess the low key rolling sound getting slightly louder when we accelerate? That one confirm CVT droning.

As for me I asked my SA to free gift me the actual tint instead. Got a 750 rm set. Quite dark and did fairly well to fend off the heat. Got my car in one week plus too. Good salesman that fella.

You’re right. Its around 8.0L/100Km. But okay lah. With my kaki always wanna sudden accelerate and constant high speed driving. Plus on my way out to Mex itself I have to face a 10mins congestion. FC memang ke laut.

I have yet to experience any jerks, but I do notice that accelerating is not Persona’s forte (CVT). Letting go the brake 1 sec earlier is my mantra now when I’m going into roundabout, T junction, merging etc.

But, high speed driving is exhilarating. I barely touched the brake for any corners from Cheras to Cyber at all. Perfect control. A bit body roll is felt vs Iriz but it does not affect me much. And I am talking stock tune and suspension. No bars and what’s not. High and medium speed corners can easily be tackled at 120kmh. You can stay in the line with one hand. (This is coming from Iswara driver with no VSC. Not even power steering so I might be a bit overwhelmed by the new techs).

Most inportantly, no rattling and what’s not. Good PDI is given to my unit I guess.

You sure? I went service yest. Still 195 with EO filter and windscreen wash ke coolant dun remember. Fully synthetic. Taman Midah SC.

2. Cabut buang the EO filter
3. Drain the yellow blackish EO, fit new filter
4. The mechanic poured normal Petronas Synthium 3000 something2, gold container. He poke the plastic cover somemore. 😂
5. Bring down my car and test the lights, reset the inspection warning with laptop, pump my tires and park my car somewhere else while I pay.
6. Free basuh kereta kupon is given post-payment, straight away drive into car wash.

The only thing I abit xsuka is he added plain water into coolant tank. I know it does contain water to dilute it anyway but I dun wan he dilute it even more.

While we’re at it, should we change CVT oil frequently (like every 30k versus book 60k?). Touchwood dun wan my saving fly later cause CVT kaput. Better belai baik2 from the start.

Idk about myvi but for me: 7.0L/100 Km with 3k clocked on my Persona VVT. Add another 25% since the reading by the Computer is a bit optimistic.

I’m quite lucky. No issues. Very minor rattling on the dashboard area when driven on uneven surfaces. Mind you, I think the rattling was not there in the beginning.

I drove like a madman on Mex and a bit gentler in the city. 140km/h above, never less (its Mex, right?) And the car took the drive quite splendidly I’d say. I will not give any problem to a Civic if I’m leading a pack on Highways. It can run up to 180km/h without hassle. But if the Civic choose to run any faster than that, we should step aside. 😂

Stable, one handed cornering is achievable around 100km/h on a medium speed turn. I can drive the machine on 140km/h with one hand. Stable and solid feel thanks to the chasis. BUT. Windnoise is somewhat apparent on that speed. On a normal speed, dead silent. Most of the sound came from the tyre (Good Year) and would not be an issue if cc6 is bolted on. Good NVH, I love it.

Quality wise? Well. The assembly is somewhat OK. Because I have no issues (yet, touchwood) with my persona aside from the rattle. But the material (door rubber and etc) are not something that I can see as ‘will last 10 years’. 5 maybe. 10? Idk. Doesn’t seems to be that long lasting.

Pros
-Good FC for non EEV car.
-Silent, brilliant NVH for a cheap, B segment
-Man the stock sound systems rocks. Myvi got nothing on Proton’s Blaupunkt. And this is coming from STD CVT driver.
-Cornering is something I actually enjoy with Persona. Great chasis and this is stock without anti roll bar.
-Good resistance and feedback from the Steering on high speed. Yet gentle and assistive on low speed.
-I guess CamPro will always be Campro, good power kick at 4000rpm and above for CVT. but slightly hesistant on lower rpm.
-massive boot!

Cons
-QC issues are commonly heard amongst us
-Good Year stock tires are freaking noisy. But its better than that dreaded silverstone i guess.
-Minimal jerks and sluggish pedal response. I guess the jerks are normal thanks to Clutch CVT and pedal response delay is due to the drive by wire. Took me quite sometime to get used to them.
-White lower dashboard colour. I mean wtf. Kena ppl kasut later ayam cannot tahan see scratches!
-scratches near the door sides due to alighting and boarding. Proton why you letak plastic there? Hitam pulak tu? Kenot brain.
-if post-rain or wet, water from the top of your bonnet (is that how you spell it?) can drip into your boot space. Bad flow design.
-Signal stalk on the left side. I’m asian. I kenot.
-Key design. Go keyless. If got key kena pulas then it will broke sooner or later. Bad bad design.
-CVT drone. Normal driving speed, no noise, barely there if there is any. But.... if you depress the pedal fully, the whine can be heard from inside the cabin. And whining sound of the CVT trying to match the car’s speed when going steep downhill.

My verdict? Persona is bang for bucks.
