Just found out from thr service centre that it is going to take 2 days to replace a faulty infotainment unit. They can't fix it so they will replace it.

Why 2 days though? I thought it is just a plug and play unit?

Apparently need to "masukkan data, keyin chasis dan sbgainya, data bukan dari proton tapi dari vendor".

The car is just 2 months old, so like rugi if change to new after market one.

Also, if I change it to an after market one, will my reverse camera, steering buttons still work? I know the hi proton won't work, but what happens to the button? Can it be remapped? I have heard of the parking sensors not working after changing the system.

Any thoughts?

Apparently the cost to replace the original headunit is 3k. If I don't come in to do the replacement and if there a future problems again, I'll have to fork out 3k to replace it.

3k seems to be quite a lot for an inferior unit. Can probably get a good android player for a third of that price. I know there would be markup, but not this steep.

FYI my headunit is working now.

my best record Mac 2023

FC for highway 16.29km/L or 6.13L/100km average speed 90km/h, turn off ESC, RM50 for 391km. tyre size 205-50-16 pump 240kpa

each bar can go 40km (city) to 120km (highway)

maintain top speed 180km/h for more than 25km follow porsche carrera, FC drop drastically

proton claim FC 6.1L/100km

Is this FC reading based on your meter cluster or do you monitor based on the fuel filled vs odometer?

My old car did not have the high tech odo to see FC, so have had a habit of tracking FC using apps like Drivo.

For my current car, the meter cluster shows between 6 to 7 but actual value (based on the app) is acutally 8 to 9.5 like that.

Hi, anyone using the front USB port for their dash cam? I'm using it for my dash cam and the dash cam will auto restart itself after driving for like 15 to 30 min then it will not auto restart itself again.

Wondering if my dash cam has issue or the front USB port unable to provide sufficient power?

Edit: I'm driving Proton Iriz Active BTW. Posted here because the thread is more active over here  biggrin.gif

The placement of the port is damn akward.

I had simillar issue when pasang my ddpai dashcam. Only thing mine kept on restarting immediately, again and again. Lucky the Persona has got alot of USB ports. I ended up using one of the 3 in the front console, wired it from the A pillar to under the dash. Cant really see the wire.

Don't know if its wire issue or the cable cannot masuk properly. I checked all the ports when collecting the car. I can charge my phone from that port.

All your front ports used up? You alos got 3 right?

Where do you guys in Klang Valley send for service? Scheduled service coming up soon.

Previously sent to Rahman Brothers in Shah Alam, but got bad experience with them.

Any recommendations?

actually got many Persona 2022 owner encounter this problem, need to find suitable USB cable for dashcam. USB port is not the problem
*
I used the cable that came with the dash cam. Even tried the cable which I use to charge my phone, same issue of keep cutting off. Ended up using the the stock dash cam cable and connecting to one of the 3 usbs ports in the console. Works fine so I just did not bother to pursue further. USB ports is something this car has plenty off.

I changed my cable also the same. Guess I have to use another USB slot to test.

BTW... anyone of encountered a clicking sound when you switch on the air con? After switching on mine, every 1 minute will have around 2 to 3 clicking sound... damn annoying.
*
I gave up on that usb port. If you are concern about it being messy, just tuck in the front of the roof covering to the A pillar then behind the glovebox. Memang wont even notice, no hanging wires.

Cara Pasang Dashcam Persona

You can see the video above. I did not even need to use the cable tie or even take out the A pillar. Just manged to use the pry tool to tuck it in.

As for the clicking noise, you can hear it from inside the cabin? So far mine tak ada.

Just a question. How much engine oil does this car use?

Last time I did my first service, they overfilled it, was more than a 1 cm above the max line. The SA it not a issue and only agreed to remove excess on my insistence.

Just doing my 2nd service and the mentioned what happened to the current SA (doing in different place). He said it's not possible to overfill since the car memang take up 4 liter, so the whole bottle is used.

Betul ke? Or is it the previous guy didn't empty the oil out fully? Which seems unlikely.

Another thing, have any of you had experience with doing paint touch up for small dings? Knocked my gate into the car door and a tiny ding is there. Looks like it might have gone through as I can see the body.

Should I just get some touch up paint from online and do myself?

Waste of money, the problem with of the shelves touch up paints is, even with same colour code it would not give you an exact colour match.

Only do this if you want to protect the exposed metal from rust.

If not, accumulate all the small paint chippings until you can't bear it & spend money to repaint the whole car.
*
I got paint chips in the front as well, but not bothered with those. This
cut on the driver door is pretty deep, so just want to protect from rust.

Sakit hati la, just 6 months and kena first time, but as you say, kumpul more chips first for the others.

will it work for persona mc2?..
any mc2 owner tried this before?..
*
Is your premium or Executive? If not mistaken they use different system, the former using Atlas while the latter is using the older one.

Headunit reloaded works with MC2 Premium, even with the handbrake down. Sideload the APK using USB. But you need to buy the app from the developers site. I got the tutorial from somewhere here only.

However, I don't use it or QD Link. The Atlas Map seems to work just fine, with simillar navigation routes/times with Google Maps. They are probably using the same API.

Just a note, if you want wireless android auto, i think you need wifi, which is only avaliable on the premium variant. I might be wrong, but best to double check on it.

Android Auto is just super glorifed, used once or twice then switched back to the native setup as its easier. If you use waze then I can understand why you would need HUR. Personally have been using Maps.

From my understanding, the map in ATLAS OS is using HERE. I used to here HERE back in Windows Phone days. It's good but it doesn't have the best traffic updates. I may be wrong though, it's been too long since I last used HERE.
*
Maybe you are right. Usually the estimates with traffic when you start is way off, while google maps gives me an overestimate. Eventually they do meet in the middle in terms of arrival time, so for daily driving, I just use the ATLAS OS one. I do have google maps as a back up for times when I expect a jam, either through the phone, QD Link or even HUR.

Hi thanks I managed to install more sensible android apps in my Persona thanks to your video haha 👍🏻

Which version of Headunit Reloaded did you use though?

I downloaded the trial version and it doesn't work for me - I tried the USB connection

I'm not sure if it's my phone or the app itself

Thankszz

Care to share what are sensible android apps you installed?

Hi everyone, i have a 2019 persona, notifed that whenever i turn steering while being parked, there's  a 'tak, tak" sound. This happens only when turning car when being parked, doesn't happen when driving.

Went to service recently,  they say that sterring rack need to be replaced and cost 1k.

Is it common problem for persona?
*
Did you manage to resolve this issue?

My 2022 (just did my 10k service last month) is having some noise when turning the steering. Its like a single tik noise when turn around 90 degree. The steering is not having any issue perse (ie berat or vibration) just the sound, which itself is barely noticable. I only started to notice yesterday at the petrol station when making a sharp turning out, with the radio and air con off.

Was thinking of waiting for my next service or if the problem gets more prominent before going to SC.

Anyone else kena this problem before?

My position lights (the small one) on one side kong already, not even a year. Was looking through the manual and it actually mislabelled it as low beam in one section and postion lights in one section.

Anyways, the manual says it should be 5W bulb. Should I replace it with the stock specification or should I consider changing/upgrading? I probably am just going to go lazada or something and buy from there. Better to change both/as a set right?

On another note, my 1st year service is coming soon. Should I look into anything specficially. I notice a lot of mention of radiator issues here regarding the original coolant. Should I ask them to check and see, just in case. I have no issues so far. Plus I am due for balancing and allignment, not sure if I should just do it somewhere here first or do it at the service centre.

Thanks for any input.

Use back same specifications unless you have plans to fully mod your headlamps (like changing to osram or diff temperature lighting)

Can get from anywhere, my headlamp was replaced using mr diy bulb. Forgot how much was it, but it was cheap and been using for more than 3 years (my car age is 5 yr +). Most importantly, don't touch the bulb with your bare fingers, the oil from your fingers will cause the bulb to burn. Improper installation will shorten your bulb lifespan more than 3rd party brand would.

Yeah, will probably do that then, save time and money on delivery. Will probably check the local store first.

QUOTE
Jz dun add pipe water or mineral water into your radiator and make sure your service center don't do that too. My car 5yr+ no sign of rust. Only add premix coolant, or mix your own coolant, or if emergency, add distilled water only.

When I went for my first service (100k), the guy actually topped from a waterring jug. The place had those windows, so when I saw I told the SA, and he said it was ok. I'll probably get a bottle of coolant on stand by the on my next visit to the SC. Or can we mix different types/brand of coolant?

QUOTE
Do rotation, alignment and balancing outside. No need do at service center. It is good and will ensure your ride always stay balance (since the wear on tires will be even)
*
During my last service the SA told me can wait till the next service (1 year). Probably not a bad idea doing outside, since can save time spending in the SC.

Thanks for the input!

Hi, yesterday my key fob (Premium MC2) suddenly cannot be used to unlock the car from distance (usually can), only can unlock by putting it closer to door handle.

I thought the culprit is low battery so I changed the battery. But the problem persist.

1. May I know what caused this?
2. I thought key fob use CR2032 battery but car manual suggest CR1620. So which one should I use?
*
Try taking out the battery, wiping the contacts with isopropyl alcohol. Same think happen to my persona (barely a month, before my 1k inspection). The service centre said they will have to reset something, but I tried cleaning the contacts with isopropyl, and it worked. No issues since then.

For the battery, I think the difference is the thickness, right? Just use the size that was originally in there?

Not about connection. Even connect to home's wifi also same. I've tried installed Spotify Lite. Managed to login, browse album, but when tap to play, cannot load. Anyway, I managed to install Youtube Music. It worked flawlessly.
*
How you install youtube music? Tried it on mine, but keeps asking me to install google main app as well. Tried login but it auto off. So all google apps cant use except for chrome. My work around is to use google chrome and masuk web version.

Using the Atlas version. Thanks.
