Those with CVT Persona, how do you feel when driving on the highway ? Do you have CVT droning issue ? Thanks.

I did crusing a lot with my persona on highway.. 3k rpm when speed around 110kmph. I would say consider high rpm. Hence u will notice some CVT droning due to high rpm, but proton really put a lot of effort in reducing the noise, which works really well. I would say crusing within speed limit is quite comfortable. Unless u speed up to 140-150kmph, then the CVT noise is quite obvious and ear tiring for a long journey.

Why did I buy a Persona?

I wanted a manual car (and I'm not rich)
That will remove stuff like civic type R.
Leaves us, vios, almera, perodua and proton persona / saga.
I was using a Saga BLM and therefore, I wanna upgrade to something better (size and feature). So that strikes out axia, bezza and saga. Leaving almera, vios, persona and myvi.

For manual standard variant, only persona offers good features and safety is not really a luxury package as the standard variant has most of the safety features as well. Meanwhile, other cars require me to purchase the top of the line to get esc or hill start assist and etc.

So it became no brainer for me on which car to choose. Even if I'm not looking for manual, the premium persona offers a lot of features for a lot lesser in price.

Rear seat comfort is one of the reason why I choose persona as well, as I tend to drive people around and I've sat in cars which offers very little thigh support. Those cars are really uncomfortable during long distance. Persona rear seats are slightly inclined too. Perfect for long journey.

Sound proofing? The stock persona has already been sound proofed. It sounded really deadened inside the car. Go to showroom and try driving it. Also open the front bonnet. See how much sound proofing material they placed around the engine compartment.

Proton reliability? Read around other car forums and you realized persona problems is around the same as other car makes, if not lesser. I used saga BLM and although I sent the car to workshop a lot of times. Most of it is around the area where I crashed (one of the reason why I insist on safety features). The parts that i did not crash, lasted me pretty long. So I don't feel proton is as problematic as public perceives it to be.

For future proton persona owner, one thing you need to take note is, parking sensor is really slow. Get the premium variant for the reverse cam if you really need parking assistance. For me, I resort to mark 1 eye ball. Lol

Totally agree on the sound proofing part, try remove the door panel, the rear boot spare tyre, very thick soundproof material comes as standard already. But one my frd complaint to me, persona sound proof is terrible. Well I think some of them dunno how to different CVT noise and external noise..

Yawo. I think engine sound fairly acceptable below 3k ar.. only above 3k it's more audible. (Then i start cranking my radio volume up. Hehe)

Yea.. especially when u r crusing around 80kmph... On smooth road.. super quiet..

Sure. Im in Penang so prices are be more expensive here compared to KL i think. Item one I get from Pusat Tayar dan Bateri Relau while rest of items are from Kiong Lee.

1) Sport rim 15 inch + Potenza RE003 (195/55/15) - RM1300 + trade in stock
2) Ultra racing stage 1 - RM650
3) Zerone SSR550 adjustable - RM2100
4) Potent Booster 6 drive - RM700
5) Stiff ring - RM300

Thinking of what mod left for me to do.
*
hows the improvement after stiff ring installation? i had it installed in my mazda 3 costs me rm600++, but improvement wise, hardly noticeable..

my car is standard variant, so it comes with nothing. i was thinking to change to a cheap china unit, the wiring is fine just plug and play, but the bracket.... hmmmmmm

Bro my advice, if you want to change to China Hu, might as well stick to Ori HU, yes it looks very basic, but it's a branded player at least with Bluetooth connectivity and USB, radio reception is good, quality of output is not bad too. I double the China hu can be this good, other than it might look more high tech with touchscreen.

Any sifu Owner can bincangkan ?

Owned a persona vvt batch 2018, to me it's already much refined compared to the very first batch, had my ECU TCU updated to latest firmware,I would say the lag is already minimal, only happens during 0-30 especially crawling during jamssssss... But once get used to it ok la, like driving manual with clutch lo.. but once speed above 30 the cvt is actually quite punchy yo..

Ride and handling is ok, not superb but good enough for a car below 50k (mine is standard).. body roll is there and quite obvious due to tall body, but chassis able to handle it during sharp corners.. the only thing is the shitty factory fitted tyres.. sitting position also a bit too high for me, not really a driver focused car but good for family too.
