just installed my unifi on saturday

thinking of getting another router so that i can get a stable/reliable connection
*
I would do it and recommend the TP Link Archer C7 v4, or the Asus art-AC1300UHP if you have the budget.

Did cordless phone really will interference wifi signal?

Just read some article say that 'router should keep far away from electrical appliances such as bluetooth
devices, cordless phones, microwave ovens to avoid wireless interference.'

However my phone is placed above the modem since day one.

Thanks.

No. As shown by bro soonwai and bro AVFAN, the cordless phone won’t interere with your current existing wireless network.

Oh okay I see, I just want to make sure money spend in the right way before spending it. laugh.gif
If possible I want to use wired across the home, but don't like the wire casing here and there inside house plus my devices are from years ago so them may not be fully utilize the bandwidth. Hacking the wall is just too troublesome. sweat.gif

Current setup is just too pathetic, C1200 in living room and using Mi Router Mini as repeater in my room on third floor due to the signal only cover 1st and 2nd floor but the signal is sometime changing on each other router, this make me fed-up.

If can rewiring, wish to upgrade to better router or switch on first floor and another AP on third floor. Just wishing la. tongue.gif
Thanks for the info, but I am still trying to learn these networking thinggy.
It's 2018 now and I yet to have a Microwave oven in my house. sweat.gif laugh.gif

Try the TP Link C3150 v2. It won’t solve your problems but its wireless transmission strength is one of the best out there IMO. As bro AVFAN mentioned, best option for you is to have a wired AP on your 2nd and 3rd floor for best coverage and throughout, but if it’s not possible, try that router that I mentioned and get a good extender.

after few complaints (and curses) to TM, today they changed my router from DIR850 (the black cylinder one) to C1200 (the one with 3 antennas). does the newly changed router has the new firmware, or do i have to upgrade it myself?

last time no issue encountered with the L7 router they installed for 30mbps then upgraded to 50mbps.  unsure.gif
*
You have to get it yourself but be prepared as the C1200 is not that good as well.

Good evening everyone. Those who are looking for a new router to replace your ageing router / unifi router for below RM1000, make sure asus blue-cave is your top priority in the list as it scores well in my test.

You can read my review here.

Asus Blue-Cave router.

Great review bro, and very interesting router. Good job.

So, after 2 weeks using unifi.
The router ac1200 decided not to detect internet connection & cannot use wifi. Wifi led turn red/orange.

The unifitv still works, meaning modem & lan is working ok.

Check tplink webpage, my ip address went missing.
After 3rd reboot attempted, the ip return & now wifi works.

Any faced this before?
*
Yes. Many people have experience this sort of problem as the C1200 is crap.

QUOTE(soonwai @ Apr 18 2018, 04:56 PM)
Depends on how they block it. If Russia blocks it at their routers then it should not affect us but it's a lot easier to block by using naughty BGP (Border Gateway Protocol) announcements, by mistake or intentional, in order to hijack/route traffic to Russia where they can then drop the traffic or perhaps capture it.

A previous incident.

You read my mind bro. I was reading through previous posts and thought the same thing, and wanted to reply in the same vein using the same link as well haha. Something is definitely wrong with the routing but if it is related to Russia's action, this remains to be seen,

QUOTE(Cyru$ @ Apr 18 2018, 05:21 PM)
Got my 100mbps installed on Monday 16/4/18.

So I tried to dl ubuntu torrent from their official page to try out torrenting, since it was recommended on reddit to see if I am getting what I paid for.

First a little background, I was on unifi 50mbps for the past 2 years and my DLs are usually 4-5Mb/s without having to do port forwarding, on the old orange and white D-link DIR615. With UPnP/ NAT-PMP forwarding on.

Now that they gave me a TP-link AC1200, I assume I should be getting near 10Mb/s instead.

I did a little test plugging in the old DIR615 vs the AC1200.

From the graph below you could see that the DIR615 got up to 4.7Mb/s and hover around >1Mb/s.
But for AC1200 it spiked to about 2.5Mb/s and hover at speeds near 500kb/s.

I am wondering is the speed getting throttled over at TM or it's the problem with the router.

Anyone getting these sort of speeds?
The C1200 is crap. Get yourself a better router. I recommend the TP-Link C7 v4 or the Asus RT-AC1300UHP.

Affected
115.134.*.*
60.49.*.*
175.142.*.*
42.188.*.*

Not affected
210.187.*.*
60.54.*.*
124.82.*.*
118.100.*.*

So, if you can change and get the unaffected ip address then lucky you. Else you need to use a proxy or vpn to get better routing. Seems so dejavu, remember three years ago my house can't stream twitch with unifi 20Mbps but office can no problem. Turns out office ip address is 118.100.*.* and house is not so go figure.

TM routing is so garbage ugh.
*
I am on 124.13.*.* and I am affected by this as well. Who knows what’s happening anyway,

QUOTE(Cyru$ @ Apr 18 2018, 05:43 PM)
Yo I get what you mean dude, from your posts on this thread, but I do see results on the same router on my friend's Time 300mbps in his apartment upwards of 10Mb/s though.
So I am like what is happening rn, is it a router issue or a ISP issue?? thought I might find out with users around here, am I the only one having this problem.
But yea, definitely will consider your suggestions man. Thanks

Right, so I guess I might have to observe for a few more days.  sad.gif

*
Sorry to hear that. Hope it will improve for you, but if it doesn’t, at least you know what to get to improve your situation.

Guys, need advice. I have Asus RT-AC68U from my previous house. Now I moved into apartment, only have Unifi Lite. They gave Netis modem/router. But I want to use back the Asus. So the solution that I can think of is to have a VDSL modem + Asus, as I cannot find out how to set the Netis as modem only. Is there any VDSL modem only out here in the market?
*
See this post from bro patricktoh for how to configure it to be a VDSL model. It might not work for you but it is worth trying. Full credit goes to him: https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...post&p=87029357

Already got it. Searched everywhere in the config page, turns out it's on the Easy Setup page!

Go to Easy Setup, select Bridge, done!

Thanks for the feedback. Might be useful for others to know.

Gyus,

my HyppTV setop box broken, with my current contract expireing in 2019. Whats my option now?

Dont really watch hypp TV, but used the box for normal Free-toAir, NTV7 & 8tv, cause my antenna sucks
*
If you are not under warranty or if you have renewed your contract recently, you will have to purchase the box. It costs between RM200 - RM300.

today finally receive call from TM about 50mbps upgrade to 100mbps with extra rm20 and wht the stuff told me my currently router d-link 850L no need change or any technical ppl come to my house just need to restart router when receive sms. I would ask my router able fully support 100mbps?
*
It can support it, but maybe not on 2.4GHz. You will need to go to 5GHz to enjoy the full 100Mbps speed.

Guys...how do i check whether my area has unifi or not?
TM changed their website, and I can't find any section that helps with that.

You have to call TM or contact an authorised reseller of TM.

If i manual select 480p, or 720p it wil non stop buffering,
Cannot watch at all,
No issue on pc, it auto play 480p or 720p if i full screen
*
Could be router issue, but most likely speed not fast enough.

Or any setting can set, use TP link 841HP
Speedtest can 34mbps down 11 mbps up
*
Are you the only one that is using the connection? It could be your router issue, or someone in your household taking all the bandwidth by downloading torrents, or gaming intensively.

How to connect tp link wpa4220 kit for hyptv.
If I connect to a laptop by changing to lan port 3 on the router it works. But when
I connect to lan4, my hypptv fails on gateway, central, ntp, dns and multicast.

If I leave it on lan port 3 on router, I fail on central and multicast only.

What am I doing wrong?
*
One pair connects to LAN4 of the router which is the HyppTV port, and the other connects to the HyppTV STB? If you do it, there should be no problems.

hi fellow TM UNiFI user.. haha.. just wanna ask.. home Unifi can use fixed IP? how much it is if request for fixed ip?
*
Hi bro, I think you need to be business to request for static IP. Why do you want that anyway? Might as well pay for a NoIP Dynamic DNS that only costs RM100 a year.

You can't change the suffix on the Archer la. It's hard coded with the firmware. I thought I could find ddwrt or openwrt to replace it but there's no development for it that I ended up using back my trusty AC68U.

My connection kept dropping with Archer C1200. Pretty lousy I would say.
*
I wold say change to the TP-Link Archer C7 v4 and your problems will all be solved. The Australia firmware is just a temporary stop gap measure.

Yep you can't beat Asus for quality that's for sure.

Turn it off. iPv6 is not well optimized here.
