So the SIM card could be used in other modem, at another location, but it must be static at one place?
*
yes, i had tried in my other mifi, working.. but if always moving around it need certain amount of time to lock the signal. maybe the sim architecture doesnt suit with mifi.

I am using Celcom Home Wireless Broadband. One thing that I found quite unusual is, somehow the service is locked to just one place. I am sure that I didn't supply my home address to Celcom. But the modem only works at my home. I've run some test, it works in around 2-3km radius.

Now, I know that the FAQ states that the customer will not be able to bring this modem around as it’s locked to the registered address. What I don't understand is how the do that. As for now, I think the service is locked to a specific number of cells on a specific communication tower.

Anyone else try to move the modem around?
*
yes.. that is what they said when i am at celcom center that day to get this modem.

that person in charge said that to make sure i turn on this thing once i reach home. bcoz it can lock your location.

i thought he was bluffing thou.. haha

Damn, the Youtube loading speed is capped at 480p and sometimes it will stopped for a while before reload it again. While others websites not under VideoWalla link is working smoothly. Why they do that? It supposed to be smooth video buffering since it is under 4G LTE with full reception bar. Those who subscribed to Wireless Platinum package, did you guys encounter this issue as well? I do the speedtest, can easily reached 60mbps ++ in my residence area.

I concur this. I test the modem with other sim. I test the sim with other phone. I put an inverter in my car and drive around with the modem.

The modem is not locked to any sim.
The modem is not locked to any location.
The sim is locked to a particular location.

I managed to get 80mbps in my residential area today. But the Youtube streaming really disappointed as the resolution can dropped to 240p despite having great speed for other websites. Anyone knows how to bypass this Video Walla as Celcom is not sincere enough to provide normal fibre speed to their end users when it comes to watching movies using the apps categories under Video Walla. On top of that, is there anyone know how to check the usage for Video Walla as Celcom Online Service only shown the normal usage for Internet but not for Video Walla? No point to upgrade to 1TB platinum package if this issue not able to resolve it to the satisfactory level.

For usage under video Walla, celcom capped the speed to only 2.5mpbs. They didnt mention it in faq. But if u called celcom hq. They'll explain it. But not sure about the platinum package.

This morning I had reported the issue to Celcom Customer Care Service and they assist me to reset the network slowness issue from their end and now everything including the Youtube rendering speed back to normal (able to play 720p and 1080p videos without any lagged). smile.gif

Just call the number you mention earlier and give them your registered Celcom sim card number (broadband) and ask them to do the reset for you.
