I've been on the market for a USB charger for a while now, and decided at some point to invest in a proper USB charger particularly making full use of USB 3.0 Technology.

First, some background on what are my primary uses, I use Surface 3 which uses Micro-USB. As someone who is mobile constantly and using hot-desks carrying a several bulky chargers for my gadgets (phones, Bluetooth earphone, Powerbank) can be cumbersome and adds additional weight. Logic therefore dictates that using multiple USB port chargers eliminates this problem.

The drawback of using a single charger meant that power distribution can be often laggy and insufficient for most chargers, having used ReMAX, LoNiO and several others meant that I wasn't getting consistent power to charge several devices consistently and for long hours.

Tronsmart Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0

Having used Qualcomm processor based mobile devices I am impressed by its relatively low power consumption and intelligent power distribution for mobile devices its used on. Added to that the USB 3.0 technology meant that it was a no-brainer to give this little nugget a serious look.

Usage

Having used this for a little over a week now, and testing its power distribution regularly I used Android version app 'Ampere' to regularly test power distribution for my mobile devices. On average I occupy 2-3 ports concurrently (Surface 3 using 3.0A, Oneplus 3, Huawei Nova 2i, using 2.4A and powerbank using its 2.0A ports). Steady power distribution between 1340mA (Surface 3), 540mA - 860mA (OnePlus 3) and a consistent charge output of 600mA for the third port meant that it consistently distributes and supplies power where necessary, according to its priorities.

According to Qualcomm

Quick Charge 3.0 is engineered to refuel devices up to four times faster than conventional charging. It is designed to charge twice as fast as Quick Charge 1.0 and to be 38 percent more efficient than Quick Charge 2.0. Now consumers can spend even less time charging, and can grab and go more quickly.

How does it work? Quick Charge 3.0 employs Intelligent Negotiation for Optimum Voltage (INOV), an algorithm which allows your portable device to determine what power level to request at any point in time, enabling optimum power transfer while maximizing efficiency. It also supports wider voltage options, allowing a mobile device to dynamically adjust to the ideal voltage level supported by that specific device. Specifically, Quick Charge 3.0 offers a more granular range of voltages: 200mV increments, from 3.6V to 20V. That way your phone can target one of dozens of power levels.

Five port charger with VoltiQ
Ports 1-4 – 5V / 2.4A (Max)
Port 5 – (QC3.0 Port): 3.6-6.5V/3A, 6.5-9V/2A, and 9-12V/1.5A(Max)
Charge compatible devices to 80% in just 35 minutes
27% faster charging speed compared with Quick Charge 2.0 Charger

Verdict
For someone constantly in need of power outlets without having the need to carry too many chargers this is a definite recommend. If you have phone that are equipped with 3.0 Fast Charge then this charger is for you. In terms of budget this is slightly more than the usual range I would pay for but you can definitely tell the difference with its sturdy build structure. After all, if you can spend thousands buying your gadgets having a safe charger HAS to be a priority when it comes to buying one.

Pros
- Features Quick Charge 3.0 that can charge Quick Charge 2.0 and 3.0 devices very quickly
- The other 2 charging ports has a max Output of 5V/2.4A
- STURDY. Its strong structure and plenty of safety tech to keep the charging safe
- Ports are evenly placed for ease of access
- 2 Years Local Warranty by Tronsmart Malaysia

Cons
- Having used this for a month, I wish for the power cable to be longer. It only comes with 1.5M cable
- Form factor is bigger than usual, but can't actually claim it as cons since the pros above means there has to be compromise
- Will update as I go

Tronsmart has its own service centers in Malaysia and offers 2 year warranty for most of their products. You can purchase online via Lazada here.

Having used 3 such chargers to date, my previous USB charger bought from ReMax had electric static when touched accidentally. I've not had any such static/shock so far. Then again the entire case is build with a sturdy plastic so I doubt you would have issues like that.

This model also has 2 year warranty so if in doubt, Tronsmart Malaysia is the place to call. rclxms.gif

I like Aukey, but preference can be rather subjective on the user based on usage preference. IINM Aukey only supports up to USB 2.0.

Its received rave reviews by the tech enthusiasts in US but I'd prefer to look at after sales option too.

Sorry to dig out this thread.
I chance upon this thread when researching on the charger.
Just wanna point out that:
As per https://www.tronsmart.com/products/tronsmar...desktop-charger, it mentioned
QUOTE
Features Quick Charge 3.0 with advanced VoltiQ technology in all 5 ports to provide optimal charging speed for all your devices.

So all 5 ports should have same charging technology and capabilities, and each support 18W respectively, instead of the 12W (port 1-4) mentioned in your review.

3 months in and I can confirm the power distribution on all 5 Ports yields similar results.

Thanks for pointing out!

Power distribution is determinant on the cable you use too. A good quality cable yields consistent power throughput to your device.

Translation = make sure good quality cable if you want consistent power output.

Sorry for the delayed response, been away for hols.
