Hi. Anyone can suggest any asus/tplink router to replace my stock router tp-link ac1200 (3 antenas). My main concern are wireless coverage especially 2.4ghz. download speed below 50 but 5.0ghz get 90-100.
I'm aiming these two routers
1. Asus rt-ac1300uhp or
2. Tp-link ac3150

Thanks.

2.4GHz will always have lower throughput than 5GHz, as 2.4Ghz is full of congestion and interference. Changing routers won't help, but I would recommend the Asus RT-AC1300UHP if you are on a budget and if you have a medium sized two storey house, and the TP-Link C3150 v2 if you have the money and have a bigger sized house.

as said, those routers will NOT help on 2.4ghz wifi.

what u get is normal, may be a bit better if very close to router.

ways to get full 100mbps: use ethernet, buy new devices with 5ghz or get dual band adaptors for relevant devices.

It look like not router problem. It is normal for 2.4Ghz to get 40-50 Mbps, if you could get 50 Mbps it consider good, normally in 2.4Ghz don't hit 50 Mbps.
To enjoy the speed faster than 50 Mbps definitely need to connect to 5Ghz and stay near to the router, because 5Ghz have shorter range.

If your client don't have 5Ghz, then what you need is to buy a 5Ghz adapter.

Next, you can make your house environment to 5Ghz by using mesh router or access point.

just using this most recent thread...

every week, 1 or 2 people will bring up the perennial issue of "bad wifi - change router".

below are some recent threads with good discussions.

those issues will not go away, new threads will keep springing up, same problem, same issues, repeat, repeat...

i wish there is a consolidated pinned thread, but there isn't.

hope all those in need will read and get some idea how to improve their situation.

Is it my router's problem ? (Tech Support)

How do we differentiate the TP Link C3150 V1 & v2? Is it printed at the packaging box?
