I prefer Prime over Marble 8. Marble 8 feels to pretentious for me

plus Prime has like 30% discount if u have AMEX if im not mistaken. So its well within ur budget

Try Beato at Bangsar Telawi. Really good aged steaks and will not break your wallet....as much....haha

Beato uses dry aging as opposed to wet aging. And dry aging, if not controlled properly, can easily leads to spoled steak. So in your case, most probably you got a spoiled steak or if you are not down with any poisoning, a steak on the verge of spoiling.
