Unfortunately no, at least for the time being. China and Malaysia Wallet operate separately as for now.

BigPay is a totally different payment system as it uses Mastercard and it's a prepaid card.

It is available to add bank cards now.

It seem like the China Wallet will only activate when you got money or card link to it. Therefore, I think if you really want to see the China wallet then you have to ask someone to sent you some RMB or Yuan to your wechat....I think it should work.

But, I not sure you can use China wallet here in Malaysia even though some of the merchant here do accept wechat through terminal...I saw on youtube someone had try and not successfully. You can use China wallet (for non China people) only as peer to peer transfer only.

No issue for mine. I still have China wallet and I still can receive and give angpau.

My friend just sent me a RMB red packet, after I entered my credit card and linked it, it activated my China Wallet. I can now switch between Malaysia and China wallet through the "Select Region Wallet" setting.

So if anyone wants to get the China Wallet, you may do the same as me.

I've linked my American Express (Maybank 2 Card). It should work with VISA too, but I've linked AMEX instead.

I couldn't link it before too, just so recently after the launch of Malaysia Wallet only I'm able to do so. You should try again now.

yes...it will take few days to do it, but still u will not allowed to use the card to top up your China wallet or deduct from the card...basically useless at the moment...

I guess they are planing for something in the future...

Came back from China yesterday and I cannot imagine my life without e-wallets.

I exchanged RMB 500 cash and only spent RMB 85 cash because my phone had no 4G that time (I was in a high speed rail train).

I have both Alipay and WeChat Pay, both are equally convenient. My friend prefers Alipay because she can earn interest (only for verified Mainlanders). WeChat has its advantage too, for e.g. hawkers by roadside, most of them are normal end users, they prefer WeChat Pay.

My advice? Get both, no regret at all. Don’t bother about credit cards because they don’t accept ours except if you visit first tier cities like Beijing, Shanghai and etc.

My next trip challenge will be, I will only bring RMB 100 cash for whole trip. I haven’t encountered situation where e-wallet payments are not accepted. Even old grandma of 80 years old selling food by roadside accepts WeChat Pay.

For SB case, you wallet needs to have the min amount of the beverage price; i.e RM 8 because you can use it to buy at RM 1 for instance.

Yeah, they go by batches and not sure when is our turn. Have you tried using "transfer" feature to receive money? Not sure if it will trigger the same notification of not allowing you to accept.

Add-on: Affected friend just tried and will trigger same error if use "transfer". So I guess no luck until verification is done.

Chyan and others if you are interested to know, I just realised the minimum spending is RM 10. So I have reloaded RM 3.20 to purchase RM 10 mobile reload. It automatically offset my voucher and I paid only RM 3.20.
