Can I use this Wechat Pay in China?

When I was in Beijing, I learnt that I need to install China version Wechat and link the wallet to a China local bank account or credit card.  But, I have no China accounts. Ended up paying everything with cash.

Not only that. You would need a local China bank account and also local China mobile phone no. Not easy for us Malaysian's to obtain. Better if you have a local friend in China and you get him to transfer some money into your Wechat Wallet, of course by paying him back.

I'm still of the opinion that the packet money is meant to encourage more guinea pigs to stress test their servers or to better gauge the amount of users in Malaysia.
