Well, top up your WeChat/Alipay balance (hint: Shopee) and transfer to them. That's how I usually do to help my relative transfer money back to our relative in China.

thanks for the tips! but this makes me think of another question: if we can pay somebody to top up our China wallet, meaning there are still loopholes to wechat's regulation that says "non-mainland citizens cannot receive money from others unless have mainland bank account"?

For Alipay only, it's still possible for now even with unverified account. WeChat Pay CN no longer possible after accounts cleansing in July, now we will need to have China ID and bank account linked before can receive/transfer fund.

Just a thought, since Wechat Pay CN(China) now able to bind visa/mastercard and pay deduct from the credit card.
Therefore, is it possible that using Wechat Pay CN to scan and pay (let merchant scan QR) to pay in Malaysia store or other country's store that accept wechat pay CN?!

Annual limit is increased to RM100k for 2020.

I am going to China next month, have few questions regarding wechat pay.
1.) Can I use wechatPay （Msia version) in China? or I must switch to wechatPay China?
2.) Can I download wechatPay (China version) while I am still in msia?
3.) If we added BP card to wechatPay (China version), they will charge BP in MYR? Seems like from the screenshot you shared with us, the conversion rate is charged by wechat instead of BP.

1) Cannot use MY version to pay. Must switch to China wallet.
2) It's the same WeChat. You just need to switch wallet. Me > WeChat Pay > Switch Wallet Region > China Mainland
3) Charged in RMB but will be converted to MYR. The screenshot is from BP.

Further query on question 2. There is no switch wallet region function in my Wechat Pay. Any idea how to "activate" the china version of Wechat Pay?
My GF's Xiaomi which bought from China have both China and Msian version of Wechat Pay. But not mine.

I think nothing can be done.. My phones are all Malaysians set and have this function.

Forgot to ask you this earlier, did you verify your China Wallet? Mine already verified with my friend's name and I cannot link other cards with other name, I can only link cards that owned by my friend. I can link my own card if I unlink her identity from my account which makes my account unverified again..

For now, alipay is a better option. Wechat Pay cannot be used at small vendors with personal account.

i read from internet source (forgot from where already) that the reason small vendors with personal account cannot pay because their shop is not set to accept international credit card at the first place. so binding international credit card via wechat pay, is useless

May i know how you managed to link Amex card?
