For future purchase when the price of 4070 or 4080 is right.......which AIB gpu length is less than 28.5cm?

Shoot, none of the nvidia AIB has any 4070ti/4080 gpu with length lower than 30cm.
Edit: forgot to mention there is no nvidia reference gpu being sold here either.

The only modern GPU with less than 30cm length is AMD reference MBA 7900 xtx 28cm which supposedly some batch has faulty vapor chamber and not available for sales in Malaysia...... hmm.gif

All new gen cards are way too thick and long unfortunately. Sometimes it does feel like GPUs have been going backwards in certain regards.
*
Exactly, I don't mind purchasing reference or stock nvidia/amd GPU as long as it can fit into my chassis.

Not to mention those coolers are oversized. Seriously, covering up to 3 slots? doh.gif

4080 models starts from 5.8k
4090 models from 7.7k

Highest tier 4080 7k+
Highest tier 4090 ABT 10k

U don't have to spend too much to get an acceptable model. Lows of 6k will get acceptable 4080, colorful Advanced model.
Similarly abt 8 - 8.5k will get u a acceptable 4090.

Meanwhile, 7900 XTX looks pretty dumb sitting there between 5.7k Pulse model to 6k for the nitro+
At that rate , I rather spend on a 4080 instead
AMD has not been very open/frank on issues surrounding it's XTX models. Or whether they will ever fix those minor minor issues....
*
Indeed. AMD drivers/software/firmware team is a disaster.
Their chips design team on the other hand though....is great and innovative. hmm.gif

Unfortunately, Nvidia gpu seems to have lower amount of VRAM and bandwidth.
A big if........if the future game relies on DirectStorage stuff, then current RTX series with less than 16GB of VRAM and low bandwidth might not be sufficient....

A friend of mine was asking about repasting his RTX 3090 for long term use. What's a good thermal paste for that usage without significant impacts on current temps? IIRC, Kryonaut is king within reasonable budgets, but suffers from pump out effects.
*
Liquid metal would be the best.
But you need to check what is your cooler material first.
If it is nickel plated with no damage, minimal liquid metal all the way.

However, if it is direct copper or aluminium*......just don't use liquid metal.... sweat.gif

No matter how many 4090/4080 got sold out, it would still be bad news for Nvidia if their bread and butter xx60/70 series GPUS do not sell well enough. And if its true the rumoured asking prices, in a challenging market, they aren't going to do well here.
*
Unfortunately, x60/x70 series are not Nvidia bread and butter.
It is their high performance computing series that contributes the most to Nvidia margin of profit.

Haha. Thx.

I'm more happy with the fan noise. Now I cannot hear the GPU fans anymore.

Interesting, do you have the purchase link for the red stands?
I would like to order a few for my sagging gpus.......

I mostly order from Shopee but for this stand, I could only get it from Lazada : https://www.lazada.com.my/products/vktech-f....7b1f40edg0rRlL

You can select other colours too. Do remember to buy the correct height for your gpu.

This vendor is from China and they also carry many other GPU stands with varying heights.

Thanks for the info. laugh.gif

since all talking about card memory, there is a long time question i want to ask
google search explaint too long, i pening kepala baca
on task manager GPU screen
i know
gpu memory
dedicated gpu memory

but what is
shared gpu memory
it just shared half or RAM, but cannot seem is in use
or will use when card memory is full?
try some light game never use it
the only game i see is use is spider man
yes mine just low end card 1650
*
Meaning when your VRAM is insufficient, those data will be paged to RAM instead......and when the RAM is no sufficient......there is SSD/HDD for paging........

got my gpu few hundreds cheaper last month, i spent quite some time to verify the official store

Probably those faked ancient Fermi or Kepler architecture gpu.

From Maxwell generation onward, nvidia implemented signed firmware mechanism to prevent "misprogrammed" gpu.

To be brutally honest, the Vulkan, hell all of these bulky af 3 fan solutions are unnecessary for the 4070, it's only a 200W max TDP card.

I am more pleased to see that other AIBs have decided to release more compact 2 fan solutions once more with the 4070. Like Zotac, Gigabyte and ASUS.
*
Sometimes I wonder if the AIBs is in the business of selling GPU or selling a cooler. blink.gif

In MY , the 5080s aren't in severe shortage like the 90s.
There are way more stocks of 5080s than 5090s.

Look around the places, you may actually find a few with slightly higher price tags. I am hesitate to point out the shop here because they were all scalping on the 90s.
This situation is different with 5090. Not only it is scarce , even if they got stocks the shop and brand's staff called dibs on them first.
ROG got like 5 cards. 3 of them are sold to staff , they kept 2 of them and selling at absurd price.

The next batch of 5090 GPU is going to be worse , because USA has already enforced the trump's tariff. Effectively from few days ago , all GPU got a 170% bump from its original MSRP .
Distributors would much rather ship 5090 to US since they can sell for even crazy price. Its similar to the situation where they banned 4090 in China.
On top of that,  the 5080 is basically a 4080 super super. Not a good day for gamers if you want to build a high end gamer's rig.
But it's not all bad news , among all the 5000 craze the 4090s these shop were hogging are starting to show up again. You can actually find them at 8k ish , again take a look around.
*
I just want to buy RTX 5080 to replace my broken RTX 3090, but the PC IMAGE salesperson including his supervisor or manager refused and said the RTX5080 can only be sold in bundle. dry.gif

This. sad.gif
https://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopi...ost&p=111159931

I was gaming, then sudden heard "pop" and the display got dark.
Quickly took a look on the transparant casing and saw the RGB light on GPU got dark. Never got it turned on anymore.
Since no more warranty, I sent to Mr armand666 for repair and hope for the best.

Of course they are . They wouldn't miss this opportunity to move those lousy or overpriced component  mad.gif
I wish Newegg didn't have to leave MY .
If you don't mind buying them from oversea , castle IT from shopee do sell them , around 25-30% higher but without the needs of stupid bundles.
*
I actually saved up RM13000 to buy RTX 4090 at PC Image, but when I went there just now, ASUS RTX 4090 STRIX is no more. cry.gif
So I informed the staff, RTX 5080 will do then....mana tahu they only want sell in bundle, not to mention the quoted bundled components are expensive too.

May I ask where?

In Miri, Sarawak here, there is only PC Image.

The rest of shops only sell low end GPU such as 3060 and 4070.

Trust me, I visited a lot of PC shops today. Around 12 shops. None of them sell RTX 4090. Only PC Image has stock for RTX 5080.

Dotatech and a few other shops are still selling rtx 4090s . At that price you can get a strix , ask if they ship to MIRI .

RTX 4090 is still quite a bit faster than RTX 5080 if you don't need DLSS 4 .
*
I asked dotatech shopee few hours ago and no stock for 4090.... cry.gif

edit:
By the way, dotatech said they have rtx5080 in stock, but only sold in bundle. dry.gif
