anyone has a zotac amp gtx1080? if so do u guys have coil whine?
*
I get coil whine while gaming with Asus 1080 Ti. I'm not sensitive to it, and I'm using headphone while gaming. It goes away after I close the game.

Yeah, inside the case, not any louder than 4 Noctua running at full 1.5k RPM

I know @goldfries is getting 90+ with RTX 2070 on highest and about 60ish on ultra...damn TB3 really steals the bandwidth and the poor laptop CPU loves to throttle .....
*
So issit the CPU or TB3 which is bottlenecking?

The RTX 2070/2080 are proved to be overprice at release last year by looking at their Super edition pricing right now. They can make the 2070 faster than the 1080Ti, but no they just want milk their fans until AMD comes out with a competing product.

I'll wait for consistent 100+ FPS on 1440p with DxR on so I can max out my monitor.
*
Same here. I even recommend people to just get the 1660Ti if they are buying a new rig for 1080p gaming.

I think 2070S consistently beats the 1080ti now. Unless you can get a very cheap 2nd hand 1080ti, I would pick the cheapest/mid-range 2070S.
*
I heard people can get 1080Ti in the range of RM1.2-1.6k in Carousell Shopee. That sounds like a no brainer.

Maybe, RTX 3080. If the price is right.
*
I agree with you, definitely not plunging hard earn money for OP 2080Ti EVEN if I have a 4k 120hz set up.

Some did say SP campaign too short ? Does it worth IF I buy just for SP ? I rarely play online or multiplayer.
*
I bought mainly for the SP, but that's just me. Some of the multiplayer mode are fun, but TDM is just not my cup of tea. And I don't think it is the best game to showcase RT, I'm blown by the graphics without any RT.

The graphics in MP looks notably worse, so I'm back to setting everything a notch lower after finishing SP to get higher fps in MP.

pay RM3000 more for a 2080 Ti and get 16 more fps than a 5700 XT.

They don't gimp anymore. I've been comparing old drivers before 20 series comes out and current one's there is no significant performance lost. This is old mindset that should be gone by now.
*
It'll be too obvious if they gimp the cards on the old games. They can definitely gimp it on new titles IF they want to just by optimising game only for the RTX cards. I do agree with you they don't gimp anymore at least for now.

Just like the Physx in many years ago ,it would take many years before RayTracing become a new standard, and then the card u r buying now will become obsolete in raytracing performance soon..
*
agree, we'll see what does 30xx series bring to the table for RT performance.

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Nov 17 2019, 09:33 AM)
example overwatch.. theres a strange dip/stutter. from 300 it dips to like double digit.
*
I heard that's the game engine limit, you hit that 300fps and the game will stutter. Of course I do not play enough or have powerful enough rig to test it.

Nvidia open  it's gsync to all, early adopters sure rage...

What? No... My monitor still function the same after the update. Heck, it opens up my upgrade path to AMD GPU while keeping my monitors!

Works on new gen gsync monitors bro, current ones wont support the new VRR features
*
Alright-alright, no upgrade path for my current monitor to AMD GPU, but still, my current set up still doesn't lose anything. I will still make the purchase if I knew about this 3 years back.

They'll whip out their 3080 Ti the moment AMD RX 5900 XT is faster than Nvidia 2080 Ti.

unless amd goes 512bit which they won't or use hbm2(e) which will make it expensive they won't be much, or given the expected tdp, ANY faster than the current 2080ti.
nvidia wouldn't even have to rush a product launch, they could simply drop prices.
*
Agree, the 3070 is just the 2080 Ti at RM2400.

Currently what I thought as well, but yeah just needed some input on AMD CPU considering they are better over than Intel, just not for gaming yet. Thanks for the input

In terms of gaming, anything AMD Ryzen will only be a side-grade for you. Heck, you're already rocking a HEDT.
For other people who wanted to build a new PC and actually have limited budget, AMD Ryzen is the better choice in 2020. It's amazing how great of a value you're getting with the RM850 Ryzen 5 3600, paired with a RM450 B450 motherboard.

Hi,

My PC still using 3rd Gen processor i5 3570, if i upgrade my graphic card to GTX1070/1070ti is there any huge bottleneck?

thank you.
*
Yes but depending on the games you play. Techspot revisited the slow Ryzen 1600 and "gaming" i5-7600k, while the i5 still beat the Ryzen in a lot of games, but there are some games which take advantages of more cores/threads on the 1600, which is bottlenecked by the i5. I know they use 2080Ti.
https://www.techspot.com/review/1859-two-ye...-core-i5-7600k/

So for games like Battlefield V, you'll see improvement even your GPU is 1070. Then again, just upgrade your GPU first, you'll definitely enjoy the 1070 with your i5 for a while!

this is a flawed test. the first gen ryzen had so many issues.
they should retest that with 3600. to make cpu single threaded ipc a non factor. the ipc affects those games because of game engine/drivers with the api used. hence y you see vulkan a non issue as its pipeline ques require very little driver optimization.
*
You seriously didn't think I'm recommending him a Ryzen 1600 right?
