i can't comment specific on zotac. for palit (previous experience), just snap photo of the purchase receipt and the barcode / ID of the card, enter the details in palit website, and palit will email u a game product key that you can redeem in the related game store. with that game product key, anyone can redeem it. some people even sell the key whistling.gif .
