What should be the normal idle fan speed and temperature for GPU?
I just bought MSI GTX 1660 Super and I am happy with the performance. But i noticed that the fan noise is slightly louder than my previous GPU (Radeon 7850 HD). Using MSI afterburner, my idle fan speed is at 41% and the idle GPU temp is 24C (75F). This is the default setting. I am wondering if I should lower the fan speed to a certain range? I am using Corsair GS600 if that helps This post has been edited by SkyHermit: Apr 26 2020, 09:32 AM |

You can lower the fan curve a bit, for example, 24c should be 10%, 40c raise a bit, 25 or 35%, and so on, until the max, I just bought MSI GTX 1660 Super and I am happy with the performance. QUOTE(SkyHermit @ Apr 26 2020, 01:21 PM) Do you know how can I reduce my fan speed using MSI Afterburner? It's in the auto mode where the fan speed are regulated by the GPU.I notice that with fan speed at 41% it is at the most left side of the range, which mean I can't lower the fan speed %, only increase it. Pic : https://imgur.com/9TbEuHd You can edit the fan curve by clicking the gear icon, https://www.pcgamer.com/how-to-customize-gp...si-afterburner/ It might or might not work at all, because it depends on the drivers, new driver usually will break stuff. You can try to feedback to MSI team. It's weird that GTX 1660 default fan speed is 40%, while VEGA running in silent mode all the time no matter what game im running lol |

NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3080 pictured?
https://videocardz.com/newz/nvidia-geforce-rtx-3080-pictured QUOTE Here are some key design considerations of the new NVIDIA RTX 3080 graphics card: 3080 = Slightly slower than a 2080 Ti... Wonder what the Ray Tracing performance / Pricing going to be like.1. The fans are bi-directional. One fan has an open-intake at the bottom while the other has an open-intake at the top. While it is hard to judge the exact direction of each fan I would assume the bottom one to be a static pressure fan while the top one throws air out in an attempt to keep air flowing through the fins. 2. The heat sink is curved. This is a very interesting design because normally it would disrupt airflow but NVIDIA seems to be attempting a push full configuration which would rely on pressure differentials to keep the air flowing and might work wonders with this design philosophy. 3. The PCB is irregularly shapes and ends when it touches the heatsink. In the image below, only the grey plastic part of the RTX 3080 houses the PCB, the fan section does not. This confirms previous rumors that had indicated a small and irregular shaped PCB for NVIDIA's upcoming Ampere GPUs. 4. This is almost certainly a Founder's Edition (if NVIDIA still wants to call these that) GPU. A design like this would be incredibly hard to tool and machine and AIBs would almost certainly prefer to go with their traditional Heatpipe and triple fan designs if NVIDIA allows them. Unless we see some form of packaging with NVIDIA supplying these parts (not going to happen) what you are looking at is almost certainly a founders edition run in limited quantity (and very high MSRP). |

Price better be good.. if it's 2080ti pricing, most would definitely not buy again. They think consumers are that stupid
Still hoping for a GTX version without the RTX crap. |
