TSMC May Raise Chip Prices By 15% In Response To Trump Tariffs

QUOTE
Taiwanese chip manufacturer TSMC is prepared to raise the cost of chip production by 15% of its current cost for all the chips it makes. The potential action, as you can imagine, is a response to US President Trump’s ongoing tariff implementation.

Fuh, comes with ESS SABRE9219 DAC.

Are you planning to put any NVME drives underneath the GPU spot?

Every time you buy a new high end GPU, you must buy new cables.

if embedded video above doesn't work.

Can forsee GPU cables being bought and sold at huge markups.

I hope it turns into a total recall. Then they can quietly fix their moronic power delivery system too.

Would be funny if Nvidia comes and say those missing ROPs are by design or 5% performance loss is still acceptable loss for USD2000 card.

Anyone still remember the 970 3.5GB VRAM works at advertised speeds but once it used the 0.5GB VRAM it slows down?

[attachmentid=11510491]

WTF? RM9499 for TUF model?

The ASUS distributors MSRP for RTX ASTRAL 5080 model is RM8000.

ASTRAL model is better performing model than TUF.

TUF model supposed to be priced at RM6,899

The usual on Shopee and Lazada. Need to collect coins and vouchers to bring it to Malaysian MSRP.

At this point 5000series is a joke when none of the GPU family could beat the next tier from previous generation. But Nvidia is fully aware how bad these are deswai they pull back 4000series from market prior to its launch so gamers have no choice but to buy overpriced latest gen. Unlike their blunder of keeping 3000series on sale for quite some time which help to dampen the sales of 4000series. Jensen knew better than repeat that mistake which helped budget gamers.

True.

I found this website selling a 2 4000 series cards:
https://monaliza.com.my/product/igame-graph...ra-w-oc-16gb-v/
https://monaliza.com.my/product/gigabyte-gr...ndforce-oc-16g/

Initially, it was showing a single stock for each card.
When inquired on stock availability the person mentioned out of stock and immediately the page status changed to OOS. Part of me is thinking they decided to scalp whatever available 4000 series stock outside their store. The other part of me is thinking the website barely gets updated and there really isn't any 4000 series of cards.

While surpising they dare do that expecting customers not to find out, its not unexpected. As I said before, Nvidia will try to push out as many chips with the highest margins as much possible. In the past these defect chips will be downbinned to lower grades (5080 -> 5070TI) but due to huge demand, Nvidia will try to sell these as 5080s anyhow.

Interestingly now just RM 200 distro scalper fee above this model MSRP and its available ala carte  hmm.gif

Colorful version very much closer to Malaysian MSRP at RM5449:
https://brightstarcomp.com/collections/pc-c...f42bb24e6&_ss=c

Only drawback is you need a casing that supports 35cm in length.

I went for the Palit 5080 [32cm in length] as it's the one that fits my HAF922 [maxes out at 34cm].
On a related note, shipping from BrightStar is freakin fast. Arrived within the next day.

PSA, if you have collected 38994 coins in Lazada, you can purchase this RTX 5080 for only RM5034:
https://s.lazada.com.my/s.KeIjY

If you have no coins, it'll be RM5424.

Indeed, even though I bought nvidia gpu from Dotatech, I also believe Dotatech is scalping stuff. sad.gif

Disappointed since I often bought stuff from them.

Update:
On the other hand.

Price RTX 50 series graphics cards will be increased by 5~10%.

is it better to upgrade pc now before tariff kicks in or wait?
in prep for gta 6 which probably for another 2/3 years for pc release. i dont think my  8700k+1080ti can hold up anymore
*
If it's for GTA6, best you wait till it's out on PC. Most probably the requirements for it will be insane.

Anyone tried the Stellar Blade demo? Seems smooth on my side but I notice very slight hitching when hitting enemies or loading new scenes. Still playable compared to the horrid Square GOTG game. That one stutters like crazy. Close to impossible to play. Thinking of dropping it completely.

2022. LOL its about the same price for a 3060 12GB back in 2022 when I was building my rig, so to those who bought 3060s back then should rejoice your GPU did not depreciate in pricing at all!

Another casualty of RTX 5090:

https://www.dsogaming.com/articles/our-nvid...ble-has-melted/

QUOTE
One of our readers noticed a “line” or “gap” in this image. That was as much as the cable could go in on our specific RTX 5090 Founder’s Edition. You can also clearly spot this “line” or “gap” at the connector in the video at the 0:12 mark. In the video, we had the RTX 5090 running for over 20 minutes at 100% usage. No burn, no smoke issues. Temps were fine (below 78 Celsius with auto fan), and power draw was correct.
