QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Feb 15 2020, 07:50 PM) i am telling you its a silly article to be used for any form of advice etc ... btw read, i clearly stated the flaw of that article. where did i even mention about you recommending the 1600. First of all, I agree with you that the Ryzen 3600 is the better CPU today. I think the article is fine for its intended purpose, to test two CPUs price almost the same, from the same year. What's the point benchmark a 4 core 4 threads with the latest Ryzen 3600 when you know the later is definitely a better value? I don't think the article flawed simply because it showcase a Ryzen 1600 beaten by a i5 in so many (older) games? @deyamato was asking whether his i5-3570 will terribly bottleneck the 1070... not 16GB RAM or SSD.

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Feb 15 2020, 11:37 PM) also think u didn't even read the article by that dumbass australian reviewer. I see now, you hate the aussie reviewer by calling him that. The article isn't good for you doesn't mean it isn't useful for others. QUOTE(antaras @ Feb 16 2020, 07:57 AM) ummm... I was using 1070 on the i5-3570k before i changed to Ryzen 3600. The results may vary on which game you are playing. Some might be close to no difference and some are clearly smoother with the 3600. Some example from me. Witcher 3 is definitely smoother when in huge cities. In No Man's Sky, some of the planets i stumbled upon will be a real stutter fest. No such issue with the 3600. However, if you're looking at raw FPS, then there are not much difference. That's my basic input. Same here, upgraded from i5-3570k to Ryzen 2700X and the frequent stutter in BF1 went away. Your 3600 is even better for gaming compared to mine.

QUOTE(volrath @ Feb 16 2020, 09:34 PM) Anyway, is it normal for cards this size and performance to get cooked to 80-84 degree celcius? In actual gaming. Is it okay to stay that way or i have to tone down the game's graphic settings? Fan is cranked at 100% speed, if I remember correctly the clock is at 1920MHz. I did not change anything, just stock, except going for 100% fan manually (auto setting only goes to 70% fan, dono why) 80-84 is fine, the GPU will throttle and it'll be ok. If i were you, I'll manual 100% fan while gaming, and improve the airflow in the case by maybe using more intake fan. All that just to get that extra few fps and prevent any thermal throttle stutter. I guess Zotac decided that 70% is the best noise/perf ratio so they max out on that RPM? not sure...

QUOTE(JustcallmeLarry @ Feb 21 2020, 07:32 PM) But the new 3000 series coming out at that time right??? Should the price drop for the 2000 series happen soon to clear some stock???? Back then when the RTX 2070 was launched, it was priced at USD$500 and it is around 10% faster than the USD$500 GTX1080. So if Nvidia pulls that off again, the RTX 3070 can cost USD$700 and 10% faster than RTX2080, if you're waiting for a cheaper RTX2080S. You may be in luck if you're waiting for a cheaper RTX 2070S because of competition from the AMD RX5700 XT. I'm just speculating

QUOTE(iZuDeeN @ Mar 12 2020, 03:22 PM) any idea when 3080 coming? Im holding off the purchase if new cards coming in next couple of months or so I say hold first if you already got something to use right now. 22nd March is Nvidia GTC2020. Cancel or not, they should make some sort of announcement.

QUOTE(SkyHermit @ Apr 26 2020, 02:18 PM) Ya, mine really cant change. Another guy from Reddit with this GPU has the same issue https://www.reddit.com/r/nvidia/comments/f6...it_just_msi_or/I don't know how's the firmware modding scene right now, I used to flash other firmware into my old reference 980 Ti to get zero fan on idle.

QUOTE(Rei7 @ Jun 6 2020, 11:44 PM) Price better be good.. if it's 2080ti pricing, most would definitely not buy again. They think consumers are that stupid Still hoping for a GTX version without the RTX crap. Imagine they make 1880 Ti chip with the size of 2080 Ti chip @ 755mm2, in comparison to 1080 Ti @ 471mm2 This post has been edited by edmund_yung: Jun 7 2020, 10:28 AM

QUOTE(defaultname365 @ Jun 9 2020, 11:05 PM) The cooler only apparently costs $150 Soon they will be offering GPU without cooler like Intel K series, while keeping the price at the same tier.

QUOTE(i7xQTi @ Jun 11 2020, 09:05 AM) i know. what i mean is that if they price 3080ti back down to 1080ti levels of msrp, either they crash the 2080ti price and vendors end up with an unwanted product or the late adopters get mad their shiny new cards will suffer junk pricing when they upgrade especially those who upgrade every gen They will price that low if AMD RDNA2 is as disruptive as Zen, and Nvidia never care about late adopters. Late adopters know what's in for them for not waiting, majority of them definitely aren't the people who upgrade every gen. When the GTX 1060 was out, I don't see Nvidia giving a damn for GTX 980 owners and its seller. Still... I think 3080 Ti will be the the same price as the current one (very expensive). If they really introduce 24GB 3090, then they introduce another tier below TITAN. Meaning all the "high end" gamers will flock to the 3090 (aka new 2080 ti). QUOTE(Maxieos @ Jun 14 2020, 11:13 PM) Which brand of nvidia card allow GPU fan to manually turn down ? I found most zotac card are set as default and unable to reduce the speed. So I think Avoid Zotac atm until they have vbios fix for fan speed. No matter afterburner and other software it'll stay at 45% which is audible the fan noise. at 45% fan speed temp is below 35 at idle. Mostly on idle state. It maybe bios setting which set the fan speed not ableto reduce lower than 45% and I am quite sure no fix or mod for older 10 series gen card My old 980Ti Reference can be tuned down with a firmware mod, but that's for Maxwell. I also connected the fan header to 120mm fans fine using mini-4pin converter cable. Currently on Strix 1080 Ti, they have 4-pin "external fan" header build in, and have stop-fan feature, usually at below 60C. Save me a lot of trouble flashing firmware and using mini-4pin converter cable. Not so sure of the Turing ones.

Anyone updated to the latest Nvidia driver 451.58, on Win10 v2004, and tested the new HAGS Hardware Accelerated GPU Scheduling? I'm getting report that it improves smoothness in COD Warzone gameplay. I'm guessing it'll matter more for those running 4C/4T CPU? https://www.anandtech.com/show/15880/nvidia...ware-schedulingQUOTE Perhaps the more interesting aspect of this driver release, though only tangential to DirectX 12 Ultimate support, is that NVIDIA is enabling support for hardware accelerated GPU scheduling. This mysterious feature was added to the Windows display driver stack with WDDM 2.7 (shipping in Win10 2004), and as alluded to by the name, it allows GPUs to more directly manage their VRAM. Traditionally Windows itself has done a lot of the VRAM management for GPUs, so this is a distinctive change in matters.

Is there really a resurgence of crypto mining which would potentially push GPU prices up?

QUOTE(skylinelover @ Jul 15 2020, 09:16 AM) Unlikely but lets hope not I asked because of this Techpowerup article. QUOTE Another juicy bit of information from the ITHome report is NVIDIA allegedly guiding its partners to increase prices of its current-gen high-end graphics cards in response to a renewal in interest in crypto-currency, which could drive up demand for graphics cards. Probably not in our country after the recent TNB debacle.

It is still entertaining and quite informative to watch Gamer Nexus, Hardware Unbox, LTT, Hardware Canucks. I'm glad we can get inputs from multiple videos and make our own analysis.
Our local Youtuber do not have the resource to review so many things like they can

QUOTE(Skylinestar @ Aug 18 2020, 07:59 PM) local youtubers are too biased with positive feedback Yeah I can't blame them because if they trash a product like GN trash the Asrock Z490 mobo and Asus Strix 5700XT, the local will definitely lose their chance in getting future review sample.

Same here with the 1080 Ti. I'll wait for a "killer game" before I'll upgrade. So far even the latest Flight Simulator is still running on DX11.
