Hello sifoos and mahaguru LYN
I'm in the market of buying a new/used monitor and after much deliberation, it goes down to either LG 34UC79G or Acer Z35. Both have 144hz, ultrawide, FHD etc, and they are quite an upgrade for me as as of right now, I'm only using a Samsung 40" TV as a monitor.
If I go with the LG34, I'd save roughly 1k+ compared to the Z35 if we're talking new vs new. Only thing is, I wouldn't be able to utilize its full feature as it comes with a freesync while I have a GTX 1060. I could use the saving + proceed from selling the 1060 to either get either a new RX580 or a used Vega56 to make the most out of it, but with the price of GPU skyrocketing right now, I don't know if its a good route to take. While LG + well priced used Vega56 is the best bang for the buck, I don't know if my 600W 80+ Bronze PSU could handle it as I heard they're quite power hungry.
If I go with the Z35, it would pair up nicely with my GTX 1060 with its gsync. No hustle, no extra step, just a convenient, stutter-free, tearless gaming. From research, I found that it can be overclocked up to 200hz (there's no way my 1060 could ever get me there), VA is better than IPS (I think), and it has a built in speaker (Already got Speaker & headphone). The con is it's too expansive for a 1080p display and would lock me to the green team for the foreseeable future but its OK as they've been good for the past couple of generations.
Well, I would appreciate it if the sifoos and mahagurus of LYN can offer me any thought or consideration I might have missed. Also if anyone has a good deal for a used/new Z35, LG34 or Vega56, please let me know. Looking to buy by the end of the month/early April.
