Mine has a low humming sound too when i connect it to my DVD player and PS2 unit, and the humming is continuous. The sound will not exist if I connect it to my laptop. I've checked with the user manual and it says in there that this humming is normal. I've placed my subwoofer unit an approximate 2 and a half feet away from my TV, DVD and PS2 unit and also away from any AC power source sockets. However, the humming sound still exists. Gotta learn to live with for now as the user manual states it to be a normal behaviour. Comments??

The VS4121 has a very interesting design, but a noisy power supply and a disturbing buzzing sound.

erm, not 100% its the psu prob, cos many thing will cause this...

cos our house power voltage = 230 but it doest mean the it will constanly stay 230 somtimes will vary...so it will somekinda wear off ur psu slowly....(can be solved by getting a new psu, or getting a good psu which will filter noise)

or the electricity cable in ur house(in wall) was done by noob electrician (can be solve by using a lonnngg + thick!!! extension wire tongue.gif) lonnngg n thick!!*
u can try bring ur pc n the speaker 2 ur fren house n try them if it is house electricity prob.

or maybe its static prob in ur rig, like mobo having contact with case metal n etc (can be solved by using 'non conductive stuff' between every screw that locks ur mobo with case)

above prob are not 100% thou, but it happened to lotsa customer when i work as part time technician...was scratching my head when i cant troubleshoot them last time after selling those stuff 2 customer sweat.gif

The humming sound is actually caused by our dirty power line aka A/C line noise. It's normal to hear humming sound from transformers of your Hi-Fi stuff. That's why you need a power conditioner, something like the one below or any other brands you can find in the market.

Why don't you tell them the cost too?...the one you highly recommend.

Nevertheless, I think if a VS4121 is humming, there's surely something defective inside. Mine is DEAD SILENT! (regardless whether its plugged to a AVR or some wall socket at home and it doesn't have an extra earth wire either)..not rosak of course!

I thought an AVR should be able to solve this problem as it will ensure stable voltage supplied to our PC.

I'm not sure about the latest price but it aint't cheap b'coz it's an audiophile product, it could even enhance the picture quality from your LCD if connected to it. I didn't buy it as I have other plans in mind, planning to buy Wireworld power cord and Tundra (power strip), another alternative method to surpress A/C line noise effectively.

Going back to the main issue, I still think there's something wrong with the TS's speaker set and no additional gadget will cure the problem.
