i like the composition of the first picture, despite the sky is missing.

second picture, i don't know what's the subject. didn't like it.

didn't like 3rd picture too. missing sky, background rather bright. in fact - what's on her hand ah? too bright and can't see the details.

I only accept the 1st pic, good focusing on the shoes, but perhaps the pci look better provided if images of the sky were captured.

if your focus was on the shell, then it's pointless you have the shell so small cos that's the only clear object while the rest will be blurred.

what you can do is (donno what camera you're using) to have a closer shot, possibly a macro shot of the shell instead because your focus should be on the subject and having the subject being so small it looks more like you focused on the wrong object.

Hi Ageell2004 ... welcome to the Photo Gallery smile.gif

1st Pic - Best done on the seaside where there are no protruding rocks. Like Shinchan said the model should be placed slightly higher where we can see more of her legs and feet, that would give a sense of disance. Goot attempt nonetheless.

2nd Pic - If it is the shell you wanna show your viewers, let it be exposed properly at the start. Look at your photo again ... does it look as if ANOTHER hand is holding the shell and she's just looking at it?

3rd Pic - Lotsa ppl already noticed that her hand is overexposed but none of them thought you how to avoid that next time : If you see properly, her hand is equally over-exposed as the background she's against, one simple way to avoid it is to use a lower ISO (maybe 100/200) or use another angle so her hand would not be directly under sunlight, maybe by the side.

Practice more, happy shooting! biggrin.gif

Here's some tips for you ...

1. Never use spot metering for seaside portraits, whether you're shooting a person or just a scenery you will screw up your exposure. Always use a lower ISO as well, I use the lowest possible ISO.

2. Good that you realise your mistake, you totally loose the feel tongue.gif

3. Maybe Shinchan tot it's part of Disneyland or something laugh.gif

One of my seaside model shoot I did in 2005 with local model Yong Loo Hui in PD : Even when shaded her face I can still see her face, she's walking towards me so I hid part of her legs so it looked as if she's walking up to wards me, sense of motion and direction. The after was really hot, about 11am after our breakfast.

user posted image

Seaside portraiture is very very tricky coz you're dealing with extreme and uncontrolled sunlight, nowadays you still have to deal with extreme HEAT and SUNBURN!!

Overexposure is cause by your ISO setting AND your metering. To get the best exposure you must learn how to angle your subject and juggle between the 2 settings to get your optimum exposure value. That means more practice.

Assuming that you do not know how to check the EXIF via Properties thru Windows, let me tell you another thing : Even if you set your camera EXACTLY according to my camera settings, you can never get back the SAME result, being : The model's skintone is different (she can be tan or fairer already), different angle of the sun on different time of the day, the direction she's walkrf and the angle her body is towards the camera and strength of sunlight. And err .. the amount of Maybelline Glittering Powder on her body as well.

So ... I dunno what EXIF data can help anyone for that matter unsure.gif

the monkey OOF.

becareful when u shooting something/animals inside the cage, u might accidentally focused on the cage, made the subject OOF.

in this case, it is better to use Manual focus if the hole within the cage really small and shaking is quite serious
