KUALA PILAH: Police have arrested five youth who beat up an ice cream seller at the Ulu Bendul recreation site here yesterday.

The Pakistani victim suffered severe injuries after he was beaten with helmets and also his metal ice cream bell.

Kuala Pilah police chief superintendent Haslah Bachok said the victim was rushed to the Hospital Tuanku Ampuan Najihah here where he received treatment, including several stitches on his head.

Haslah said initial investigations showed the suspects had turned up at the recreational site about 6.15pm in two lorries.

He said they had then called the victim who was selling ice cream from his motorcycle but turned on him when he was slow to respond to them.

He said following a report police managed to track down the suspects and arrested all five of them from a restaurant in Kampung Terusan Juasseh here about 7.15pm.

The suspects, aged 22 to 30, would be charged under Section 148 of the Penal Code for rioting.
