QUOTE(TechForumer @ Mar 25 2018, 01:57 PM) That's very true. For those who don't know, one of the reason why a hard disk get bad sectors could be because of rusting that is happening on the hard disk surfaces. It will definitely get worst eventually for sure. Hard disk platters are made using an aluminium or glass and ceramic substrate. They don't rust. |

QUOTE(WebWalker @ Mar 25 2018, 03:13 PM) The terms "rust" and "corrosion" are often used interchangeably.https://www.allmetalsfab.com/does-aluminum-rust/ http://www.libertypackaging.com/blog/bid/1...you-re-thinking |

HDD high failure rate this days are cause by cheapo manufacturers trying to cut cost on the material. The components or alloys percentage have been highly altered to reduce the cost on manufacturing various parts of the hdd. I don't believe in mass manufacturing could actually reduce the cost of items. However, i do assume that in such mass manufacturing process, their suppliers have decides to lower the grade of their parts by simply fusing their alloys with very terrible metal substances that are known to degrade and cause various issues after various life cycle of usage.
