Only place I know is Guitar Store but screw that overpriced con jobs.

Anyone know of a place that gives a good price? My price range is 1200 - 1500.

Also, what Guitar would you recommend? I like alternative rock and indie folk so unlikely to deviate from that. A nice thick sound. Something you'd possible find on a Sevendust or Fuel acoustic song. Suggest a brand to check out as well! I don't know much about gears.

Arigato son!

odd you mention TGS as overpriced con jobs, they are arguably the cheap acoustic bois in the market.

i think the other one is CK.

the rest like bents, swee lee tend to be quite pricey (they dont bring in china brands) not sure if JS has a good range

or you can go to yamaha warehouse sale and see if can nick a unit or two.

a lot of the sounds you hear on records has more to do with the mic than the guitar

imo, tgs with their corts, norman, art&lutherie etc still offer better value for money than most.

well i dont doubt it, but then they do carry the value for money brands and often have quite good deals on their acoustics

then again you have to go to their cheras branch, the rest tends to operate independently

You can check Amplitude Music in USJ.
The seller, Jon is very nice, helpful, and knowledgeable in choosing good guitar based on my budget.

You can check on Sigma, Eastman, Trumon, Veelah, Kepma and many more...

Also better to choose guitar and listen with your own ear...

few yrs ago, tgs carried the whole godin family.
a&l, norman, seagull, simon&patrick.
they also still had a few of the popular seagull S6 couple yrs ago.

hmm, still do.
https://www.theguitarstore.com.my/index.php...h&search=seagul

interesting that tgs still have all of them, except A&L.

they always do, but they dont seem to push them like a distributor does

so im not even sure how they sell those guitars really, or why godin has like 4 brands competing against each other

Two occasion but one's really old. The recent one was my amp had blown out. I sent it in, asked if there was any fees (for checking the issue) they said no. When I came back they said there's a 30 bucks checking fee and on top of that the price the were charging to fix it was 250 when another place only charged 150. So I was like fuck that noise.

It's a nice place though, nice feel and they all friendly and whatnot. Oh and then there's that time when I asked for thick strings cause I like playing riffs and the guy put on strings that became unplayable, like it was too thick for me neck or like soemthing like that. I'm like bruhh..

Went to TGS yesterday. Guy was great very friendly. They only had two within my budget and had the plugin pickup thing. Both were TGS design Cort guitar. One at 930 and 1430 with Fishman pickup. Idk tbh is that kind of thing worth it? He was saying Fishman was the best, to get that.

Yes I do. The guitar will be used for gigging as well as I'm looking to get back into it. Also, a guitar like this is a long term investment so it's better to be safe than sorry.

Fender under 1.5k?

I'll probably check out a couple more places suggested in this thread. I'll look out for that.

not really, wedding ones typically dont

those are not really "designed" by TGS, one can say dealer spec, its not common but does happen time to time. Dealer spec normally tends to be the often requested combination of woods by their customers, it tends to be good value sometimes but they dont fair well in the used market somewhat.

Keep it in mind, and go for a look around, no harm to just wait a bit since you are buying new.

Also take note that the top is the only thing that is solid, back and sides are laminate.

go to other shops and try out, sometimes wood specs wont deliver the sound you want, so the personal experience is still critical

Good point. Wedding just mic la XD

I'll probably go to CK tomorrow then Amplitude on Saturday.

I don't understand about the wood thing. Should all be solid? What should I be looking for? But yeah I'll try all those places then decide.

for ur budget, the best ur gonna get is a solid top and laminate sides...
if full solid, its gonna cost way more.

there are also some corts with solid top and backs, but still laminate sides...like my favorite cort model aka poorman's martin 000-15M - http://www.cortguitars.com/en/product/prod...iew.asp?idx=134

theres no should, just your personal preference

solids tend to be expensive, they are argued to sound better but imho thats mostly due to them appearing in more expensive guitars with better workmanship, they age better ( sound better in time) unfortunately they are very sensitive, and less resilient

laminates = plywood, cheap, study and resilient. They can sound good but wont age at all

there are pros and cons to each, the unpredictable nature of solids can make life with the guitar quite irritating

i think in the end u will find cort is still value for money.
ck i think the only thing of note they have are the ovations they been trying to clear for years...some not bad also less than 1.5k... but ovation of cos are an acquired taste.
apart from that... can also pay a visit to guitar collection.

Fender acoustic guitar with price 1.5k, I have own 1 and I must says that the quality wasn't good.

The fret especially the shine get worn off, while my ibanez electric guitar in cheaper price don't.

Try out some Faridas as well when you're in TGS. Still have a H16 that I like alot.

I'm was going through the guitars at the same site. I don't see the pick up in the picture or the title.

There's so many that's within my budget with pickup there! All in stock some more. See why I don't like TGS. Nampak sangat the guy was trying to push that model...
*
lol take your time and research la, all the guitars that are listed that seem to fit your budget are not all dread's, theres are some grand concerts and 000.

also be weary of guitar shops, if TGS strikes you loony, the rest are kinda not that far off in customer service

but ya, fender acoustics have the most electric feeling necks around on a budget.
apart from that, its Taylors...

personally im not diggin the Fender acoustics at all.

Epiphones though, there is a cool newer line of acoustics resembles jazzbox that have a MASSIVE neck! Tried one in Swee Lee and I like it! But pretty expensive if i rmb right

If you're gonna take lessons they'll probably suggest one for beginners.

just one that makes you happy, its htat simple, i hate PRS for example despite their universal acclaim

functionally these days most guitars are fine, issue is even if they are not most people wont be able to detect them. And most beginners and intermediate players wont even reach spots that are commonly problematic untill years later.

just as long the notes dont buzz and you are comfy with it, its good to go

Generally the best guitars are full solid guitars, which cost more than 10k ( Taylor Martin Goodall Larivee Lakewood Gibson etc.)
But as a beginner u dont need a guitar that good
Ask an xperienced guitarist friend to choose the guitar within your budget for you, they will know what good action n great playability are (hopefully)

Ended up getting a Tanglewood dreadnought + bag and capo for like RM614. Was actually pushing for a 1k - 1.2k guitar but ended up with this. Even the guy working there was like yeah another 600 bucks Tanglewood was great and I should go for it but eventually the uncle there said dreadnought would be better for my style.

It was the Guitar Collection and I highly recommend it, in my two visits I easily spent about 4 hours there. The guys are great and the put the player's needs first.

Anyway, thanks for the help. It was a real bargain and I saved quite a bit of cash.

I couldn't decide between two guitars, they layan la. Uncle suggested blind test all. Then I asked him to play same song on both guitars. He humored me but can see his patience was catching up. The other guy was great though, planning to go see him perform too next month.

Waste my money just to have an uncle friendly to me?

Idk I felt they really placed the customer needs first. You go other shop, they try to push things. Here even though the sales guy is a way better guitarist, he was reinforcing my ideas about the guitars. Like when I say it's muddy, he's like yeah. He even asked me to get him to order from warehouse just to try other choices and told me to go to Starling Mall nearby and try there too. My choices were 1k and above from the start, we went down and the guy was like yeah, this one good cheap some more discount some more. Finally, we both agreed on one after testing on amp previous visit. Came 2nd time to buy straight. Waited for a bit for guitar to come from warehouse, uncle did the adjustments. I'm literally about to pay ady, then uncle comes in and says, I see you play that day 2 hours here, you should get a dreadnought and he hands me a cheaper one slightly only la but still. That pretty much prolonged my decision for another 20 minutes XD Idk, I just feel very satisfied. I feel I would have had the same feel buying a 1k guitar there as I did with the 500 bucks one. Happy with the decision, only the color like some 60 buck guitar huhu dark brown :/
