Dyana’s mother denies daughter and Zairil are lovers

Mother of former Teluk Intan by-election candidate Dyana Sofya Mohd Daud has hit out at those who circulated photographs depicting Dyana and Penang DAP vice-chairman Zairil Khir Johari as being lovers.

“That is not Dyana. Dyana and Zairil are not in love!” she said in an interview with Sinar Harian.

Yammy Samat reportedly said that the pictures were the latest attempts by certain quarters to defame Dyana and ultimately see her kicked out of her party.

She also saw the move as a way to divert attention from bigger issues.

“This is not something new, it happened even during the Teluk Intan by-election.

“If even with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and Azmin Ali they can defame and create such images, what more with Dyana,” Yammy was quoted.

As a respected parliamentarian, Yammy said, Zairil would not do such a thing to jeopardise his image.

Yammy reportedly said that she had yet to decide if she would take any action against the matter, as there were already several court cases filed against politicians that were still ongoing.

Some 13 intimate photographs of Zairil and Dyana that were made to look like “selfies” surfaced recently on the Internet.

They were circulated through blogs and a Facebook account with Zairil’s photograph used as the profile photo.

Both Dyana and Zairil are unfazed by the issue, with the latter having said that it was gutter politics at its worst.

He also said he wasn’t surprised at the images as his mobile phone has been hacked before.

Dyana, on the other hand, merely said “Sigh. Not again,” through her Twitter account.
