StratOS,

Refer to my quotation from Texas Instruments, one of the feature of the TWL92230 System Power Manager is the low battery and thermal shutdown protection. This is what I am talking about  wink.gif

But sometimes if a thing meets the requirement of someone, hence it will be perfect for that someone smile.gif

It price, battery and build quality is not an issue for you, then N95 will be a perfect device for you tongue.gif

Agreed. I am enjoying the phone very much now.

Tips - To save on the wear and tear (if any) to the slider, once in office I always put the phone on the table with the key pad open. This way, no need to open/close the slider everytime you wanna make a call. The phone will also on standby with key pad locked.

Of cause it can be done smile.gif
Go to Menu>Tools>Settings>General>Personalisation>Standby>Shortcuts>
Then you can choose left selection key or right selection key to link to your converter.

Added on April 14, 2007, 11:56 amAny n95 user here using gsm mode instead of dual mode? how long can the battery last?

if backlight is set to the lowest in gsm mode only, how long can the battery last on a single full charge under normal usage?

Thanks.
*
Managed to used the battery for 3 days (2.5 days to be exact). Pretty average phone use and fiddling with the phone function.

At the end of the third day - battery not yet die but almost so charge

My settings

Vibration off
GSM mode only
50% backlight
No tone key

QUOTE(Shinichi @ Apr 14 2007, 01:56 PM)
wow, thats pretty good imo...

now my only concern for n95 is the slide mechanism... since its made of plastic... dunno after long term usage the plastic will break or not...
*
I seriously doubt it would break la. Loose due to wear and tear possible la.

IMHO, ultimately it is still depending on how you you handle or take care of your phone.

It is like scared of scratch or dust (i know I am sweat.gif ). It may happened or it may not happened but end of the day it will still be a kick ass functional phone and user variance may last till the next time you change phone.

Maybe this is my first Nseries phone but I am damn happy with it. It's multi capability function, excellent performance and intuitive interface.

Don't harp on it's weaknesses. Every devices have them. Heck even my PSP has dead pixel now cry.gif. If you can look pass all that, you will enjoy your gadgets much much more.

Enjoy N95 for what it is. I know I am icon_rolleyes.gif thumbup.gif

QUOTE(kenso77 @ Apr 18 2007, 09:04 AM)
Question: I plugged a 3.5mm headphone to the phone about 2 days ago and after removing the headphone, the phone could not use its normal microphone. That means the user can only hear what ppl r saying from the other line but the other person could not hear her reply. The problem was finally rectified when we re-plug the headset back onto the phone and manually activate the handset setting. What I`m puzzled is that:

1) the phone could not automatically revert back to handset setting after removing the headphones?
2) no settings in the handset to manually reconfigure the settings back to handset mode?

My colleague is now damn pissed at me for plugging the headphones to her phone and inadvertantly screwing up the settings & has refused to let me even touch her phone. I could no longer investigate the reason for this. If the headset really does change the setting PERMANENTLY until replugged again, then this phone is truly not user friendly. What if u`re in a rush and accidentally left ur headset home or something, then u`re screwed for the whole day. Anyone can verify?
Don't think it is a bug. Tried with multiple headphone from my psp to creative zen on the N95 and still can work later.

Maybe it is your phone hmm.gif anyone else experience such thing?

smashpop - when you connect N95 to the tv, is the sound ok? My one like no sound come out

Guys, one tip. Forgot where I got it from tongue.gif

To copy text

Press and hold the 'pencil' icon and at the same time,
push the cursor towards the text. You'll be able to see
the text being highlighted. Once you've completely highlighted
the text, you'll be able to see 2 options on screen:
Copy / Paste. Select 'Copy' (with your finger still pressing
the 'pencil' button.) Now let go of the pencil button, and press
and hold it again, then select 'Paste'

You can even exit the application that you were in and start a
new one and paste your copied text there. The text will still be
stored in memory until u either select another text to copy or
restart the phone

to smashpop - opps sorry but hopefully someone new to symbian can find it useful sweat.gif

to goliath - one use of the pencil is during sms, can use to choose symbol and also toggle to number mode

I find that the allowable character in my contact text fill is only around 10. Cannot more than that. Is that so?

smile.gif

just came back from lunch. managed to test the route planning whether the tracking is real time. It is real time. Well at least that is how accurate I see it.

tested the GPS data as well for navigation and trip distance.

smile.gif
*
Ya, it is real time tracking. Show you where you are in accordance to the 'coloured' route after you specific your location and destination.

I hope it is free cuz I use it quite extensively in HK. One complaint is that the GPS sometimes give me a longer route. Make me walk like hell.

Anyway the N95 is the only gadget I brought for my 7 days HK trip.

I use it for - Listen music/play games in MTR
- Surf the net in Starbuck for infos and news
- GPS for map and route planning
- Camera for picture and video taking
- QuickOffice for my daily plan/agenda and budget tracking
