Basically i updated the iOS to 11.2.6 last Saturday. Sunday evening the phone went into constant reboot mode and the shop's diagnosis is the motherboard is faulty.

can you go into recovery mode and restore using iTunes?

Can, tried that as well and it didn't work. After the restore, it's the same.

confirm motherboard spoilt. can sell as spare parts already. iPhone 7, such a pity. Should have gotten Apple Care+.

Hi, I'm currently facing the same problem with my iPhone 7 after using it for about 1 year and 4 months. Apple centre says it'll cost 1800 if it's the motherboard. One repair shop in Kepong quote me 800++ to fix it. I called up a few other shops and most of them says it's very likely it's the motherboard because of the 'unknown error number 9'. So I would like to ask if is it possible that it is actually a software issue instead of a hardware one?

Apple will able to tell you if it is motherbord issue by doing a diagnosis test. Are those APR able to do so? They are obligated to do a diagnosis test before asking if you would like to repair.

Bear in mind though there is a token diagnostic fee charge at APRs. Anywhere between RM50-RM80.

no such thing at Apple Store. try call Apple up and force the APR to do a free diagnosis test.

Apparently you don't get charge if your warranty is still valid, but otherwise you get charged a nominal fee.

That's the difference between APRs and Apple Stores.
