Has anyone install dashcam here? Can the Honda SC install it?
What kind of?
How much it cost?
How does it function?
- do we need to touch original wires ? Void warranty?
- i need dual dashcam with parking mode and wifi enabled so able to view the recorded files both front & rear
Can anyone recommend good one?

Honda SC will never do anything that is not their own so you need to install it yourself OR you can get it done by your local kedai abang and pay them around RM10 - RM20 but the installation is so easy I think you can finished it in less than 10 minutes and then use that money to buy yourself a large McDs french fries.

I got myself the 70Mai dashcam, bought it for around RM190.00. For a budget dash cam, no complains for this and the design is proper enough and not intrusive. There is no need for your to splice any wires, it's all plug and play and it derives the power source from your 12v socket. No worries about voiding warranty and stuffs because you can just easily remove everything before sending it in for warranty claim.

You interact with the dash cam via a wireless connection through an app downloadable from the website (iOS and Android supported).

I remembered someone installed both front and back in his AE86 and he posted a video for it as well.

By the way, what do you mean by "parking mode"?

Does this dashcam continue to record when it is park in the parking lot?
*
Nope, it does not. It only starts to record when your car is ignited. I am not sure if there is any 3rd party dash cam out now that supports continuous recording but I know that BMW's does that but also only for "events" (ie. if moving object or force is detected).

For the feature you are looking for, you need a dash cam that has that kind of battery that will store electricity power and it's not going to come cheap. Even your conventional dash cam that uses a capacitor instead of LiPo will costs you up to RM500.

Hello, just checking with all new HRV owner, any issue with car so far? rattling sound or anything?
*
6 months in and every thing seems acceptable. i noticed a small rattling on the left side B-pillar recently, i guess it's only normal given how much vibrations that car has to go through daily but other than that, nothing major.

Oh God that Atkinson engine 😂

And the suspensions are so bad my recently rebuilt absorbers for my own car ended up way more comfortable (while still obviously having way more performance) than the HRV RS suspensions.

The only saving grace was the rather decent UHP UC6
*
hahaha... that engine is alright.

i used it 99% of the time to ferry my family/parents so basically light footed all the way. no complains from them so far so that's that and yes, i have to admit, the suspension is to my surprise stiffer than I expected it to be but still nowhere as strict as my Mazda.

wanted to actually go full EV but did not have courage yet so HRV is a good compromise and is well within my budget and i kinda got addicted to seeing how the battery indicator gets charged up/accumulating wub.gif

this one... looking at the green color lines flowing to the battery and the battery cells charges up is quite addictive tongue.gif

Ya about that, does it ever goes past 50%?

Mine is like Max 3-4 bars green that's it lol
I think in total got 10 bars
*
if you planned it very very carefully then it can. i think i've seen it at about 70%-75% but that is also because I was going downhill (the downward stretch after the Puchong Selatan toll plaza) heading towards Cyberjaya/Putrajaya so when that happens, you feel like you are the green-iest person in the world biggrin.gif

If coming from say, 70% charged, and if you go up hill or have some spirited acceleration, how fast does it drain? My wife has recently sold her current ride and although we have booked the V-spec, she wants the creature comforts of auto wiper, motorized tail gate and dual zone AC, so will swap to RS if the stock availability doesn't vary much. I guess if for long distance, we'd be driving the RS for its fuel efficiency.
*
difficult for me to say how fast the battery drains because (i) i never gauge it and (ii) i never take it for "spirited driving" but based on eyeball observation, the discharge rate is quite quickly when the car is going uphill but the rate in which it discharges is acceptable to me.

perhaps it is just me but i never intended for the battery to substitute my fuel consumption, i have been driving to charge up the battery so that i can use it during idling (eg: stopped at traffic light, crawling traffic, finding a parking spot or last-mile cruising in my taman from the guard house to my home etc.) and so far, i am liking how the system works.

frankly, this is quite an "addictive" system and despite only driving it on the weekends, i now feel "bad" for idling with the engine on in my Mazda.

this is my take on the variants, if you are a light-footed driver then you'll enjoy driving the RS but if you feel the need to put your foot down on the accelerator most of the time then the Turbo variant will be more suitable.

My take however, and seeing how the Civic hybrid is also positioned, even for heavy footers, the HRV hybrid is still a decent choice especially if it's mainly city driving, stop go etc.

The only weakness is past 60-80 kph where everything runs out of breath lol.
Anything below however, there's no denying that instant electric torque.

*
true that, the hybrid system in the HR-V RS is definitely not a highway cruiser.

hmm.gif

I remembered stumbling upon a car reviewer who claims that Honda engineers confirmed that they tuned the hybrid system in both the Civic and the HR-V differently - in a way that the Civic will inevitably drive more "eagerly". Will try to find that video and shared here.
