My LG monitor was also like this. But very small.
If laptop I think the screen connection is loose. If monitor I think mmg spoil. Either way go fix la.

Possible overvolt?
Anyways, motherboard probably compromised too since it's a laptop.

if you laptop is new, probably the component was cheap out.

Dont panic and go gila for us yet.
1st, you using laptop with those intel gpu + nvida/amd?
If yes, you need to check isit your gpus or monitor that is giving problem.
If just monitor, its would be cheaper to repair than a bad gpu
