Currently using first gen Tecware Phantom RGB keyboard (red switch) and I'm planning to change cuz a lot of the plastic pieces on the key caps that's supposed to 'hold' the switches on the board starting to crack ady.
Here are my options so far:
Steelseries Apex M750 TKL - RM588
Cooler Master Masterkeys Pro S - RM400 to RM500 (no stocks anywhere so do recommend me some sellers if any)

Any other mkb to recommend? I'm still quite new to mkb so I don't really know much but i do prefer red switches & TKL. The steelseries apex m750 tkl looks good but price is on the high side. Would be great if someone can recommend me a similar mkb with more competitive price smile.gif

which layout? for modular boards, just get your own switches. since you want detachable cables, you can look for everglide gk series (proprietary firmware); kbdfans' kbd67 (qmk-based); massdrop (now called drop) ALT, CTRL, or SHIFT (qmk-based). for these options, rgb is built-in, you can just turn it off.

the above is what i can think of. i suggest you do some own leg work to find out more.

as for custom made cables, i guess some sifus in mymkb fb page can do that but not sure.
alternatively, you can get better replacement key cap sets from taobao/aliexpress and continue to use it.

for soldered builds, i suggest you check out mechmarket fb page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/MYMECHMARKET/ there is a custom build by quovadis123 (retooled black, lubed with krytox gpl 105; supports bluetooth and wired) you can ask to see if stock springs be swapped with springs from red.
it's better you ask this at mymkb fb page, https://www.facebook.com/groups/MalaysiaMechanicalKeyboard/

I don't think i understand mkb enough to straight go for custom builds tbh sad.gif
Seems like the CM masterkeys pro series already stop production but I'm still trying my luck with a few retailers out there. Might take a look at Ducky One also.

uh? no you don't need to do that. the board is already built by quovadis123. the main reason i suggested this one is retooled cherry mx black batch 1 switches (which is smoother than typical cherry mx switches found in most oem boards), and they're already lubed with krytox gpl 105. i have a build of kbd75 with the same lubed switches, built by quovadis123 also. by the way, the retooled black he uses is the pcb-mount type, meaning they have additional 2 side pins that provide another layer of structural support for the build. (as a side note, if you built a plated custom, and the pcb supports pcb-mount switches, always use pcb-mount switches as is. don't cut side pins off)

the only concern to me is the spring weight. the bottom-out weight is 80g so it might be heavy for you. (i have swapped mine with 62g; so it feels like cherry mx red when typing)

i don't suggest you go for cm masterkeys pro s. i have one, and it sucks.

Thanks for the suggestions dude, I'll do a bit of research first before making any decision.

"If it's not broken, don't fix it"

Can always just get a set of keycaps to replace your current set. Can cost from RM30+ onwards. If you don't really care much of the backlight, I would recommend going for PBT keycaps for more lasting stems, but, as with the case of most PBT keycaps, they are not "shine-thru", some are, but very rarely made.

Of course, no one really stopping you from actually getting a brand new keyboard. If you do really decide to get a new keyboard and wants to get rid of the old Tecware with the broken keycaps, do drop me a message. wink.gif
If you're looking for TKL sizing, I might have something that suits you, but I'm a bit unsure if your #3 "No RGB" does it mean you still need single colour LED? Or completely no LED is fine? #5 I don't really offer custom made cords, but I can do #4 mod into any pre-builts using a cable by changing the cable into a Micro/Mini USB port.

This is definitely the more economic option. Any ideas where can I find any keycaps suited for the Tecware Phantom RGB? I tried searching on Lazada and Shopee but there really aren't many options.

Placed an order for Anne Pro 2 (Cherry MX Red) on Saturday from Taobao, should be arriving in this week. Anybody used it before and mind giving some thoughts on the mkb?

Got my Anne Pro 2 last Friday and I've loving it so far! Mine is Cherry MX Red Switch so it's slightly more expensive, about RM330 including shipping, ordered from Taobao.
It's my first 60% keyboard and it takes some time getting used to but being a 60% keyboard it looks really really really good. The compact size makes up a lot more room on my mouse pad and I feel that during gaming my mouse can move a lot more freely and I can sit closer to my desk because the keyboard won't be blocking my body.
One thing I don't like is how weak the RGB lights are, from certain angle you can't even see the RGB lights maybe changing to pudding keycaps will be better.

thanks for the heads-up, bro. I wanna stick with pbt cos i really like the feel of the AP2 keys, just wanna mix up the colour a lil bit. So was hesitant about ordering online, but will take the plunge with some different price range sets and see what we end up with. Planning to upgrade the battery but still looking for the correct size  cable connector for the mod (JST 2-pin 1.5mm pitch).

There's plenty of pbt keycaps in taobao too.
Here are my Joker keycaps set and my Pudding keycaps + taihao yellow rubber keycaps
