for lasting effects, consider krytox, https://www.storeuni.com/lubricants

alternatively in KL you can visit acehardware (grease only, e.g. super lube, permatex dielectric grease)

Hey Horns,

I managed to find the DuPont Silicone Lubricant with Teflon in ACE IPC. I believe it's the new version of the lube brought up in Ripsters' Lube Guide. I've mixed it with the Super Lube grease with no issues so far. Just a question of how long it'll last

as the guide pointed out, this type of sprays are meant for temporary lubrication. you need to apply them once the effects are gone. it's really up to you to find out how long it will last in its pure form. (maybe weeks; maybe months; i'm almost positive that it's not years)

however, if you mixed it with super lube and applied the mixture to switches, it will last for a while. this is because super lube grease will still provide lubrication even though the Teflon spray has worn out.

one of my switch sets were lubed with pure super lube grease. it's been a few months, and they are still ok.

edit:

another good reference in case you wanna know where to lube in a switch, https://www.keebtalk.com/t/lubing-switches-...re-to-lube/3620 (or, direct link to the image album and details, https://imgur.com/a/hijSYcp)

for the first mkb, i suggest you try out the 3 main cherry mx switch types in a shop that has demo units first, i.e. linear red, tactile brown, and clicky blue, to find out what you like most.

for office use, the better choices are usually red and brown imo (literally more quiet than blue). for home, just use whatever you like.

if possible, look for boards from filco and varmilo. if it's not possible to get these two, you can try ikbc. (e.g. ikbc c87/c104; filco majestouch 2/ninja; varmilo va87m)

currently there are some good used boards at https://www.facebook.com/groups/MYMECHMARKET/ (filco, varmilo, ikbc) for a good price.

leopold's are similar to varmilo's, so it should be good.

i guess it's much faster for you to look up with search engines on their main differences.

if you're keen on replacing stock key caps with better quality ones, it's better to choose something with cherry mx-compatible stems.

tbh filco boards still remain as one of few better oem boards worthy to be kept. after all this while, nothing in the market come close to these, in terms of giving users the best possible typing experience out-of-box.

many said, 'once you're used to mkbs in general you will never go back.' i kind of disagree. i think the correct one is, 'once you're used to good-quality boards like filco, you will never go back.' it makes more sense.

yeah, searched. at first i thought its 2 different version - but actual the 513 has more bundles than 512 (complete vs standard edition). changing keycaps will be on my filco. just wanted to get a KB with macro function.

Absolutely 100% agree about Filco being amazing out of the box. Their only downside are the stock keycaps which are ABS, but throw in some good PBT one and the Majestouch is really a majestic typing experience. Upgrading from a Filco is difficult because there aren't many that matches them in quality so it's really down to nit picky preference.
