Haven't tried it yet. Need to figure out how to do that without screwing up my iron with melted plastic. Oh, also, I'm supposed to be working tongue.gif

halu pulis, ade org ponteng kerja.

anyway, can put maybe towel/clothing or foil or kitchen tissue the roll one.
worst case scenario it'll stick to that instead of ur iron.

Success! Heated it with an iron with an old shirt over the foam, then while it was hot, put it underneath a flat piece of wood and sat on it. Did that 4 times and got it to about 3.7mm.

With minimal pressure.

Foam all done.

Testing inserting into the case. Had to trim the sides a bit. Standoff holes a bit tight but not an issue.

very nice biggrin.gif

after all these mods, you will have a much better board soon. switch films will definitely help to eliminate switch top wobbles. (which is very common in switches with clear housings)

Thanks. I just hope I get them soon. Aliexpress, you know la...

I'm seriously tempted not to wait though. These switches are quite tight. Almost no wobble. Or maybe it's because I haven't opened them up and lubed them yet...

Or maybe I should spend more time working....hahaha

it's better to wait for them and complete everything before soldering.

you can test your switches by holding switch top and bottom housing, then move it to and fro horizontally. if it doesn't move, then it's good. from my experience with gateron and cherry, some of them do move. hence this creates inconsistency.

Well, it's REALLY likely because you haven't opened them up. rclxs0.gif

Those Polycarbonate top housings are like erm, virgins, once you open up, they stay opened up. blush.gif

Doesn't really look like an actual Ganss to me, typically Ganss costs more. Looks more like built up from an OEM (while I don't really like the way this word is used in the industry, coz it's often mis-used, it's the easiest way to explain it) board. Uses Outemu supposedly hot-swap switches. And the brand is clearly written there as "YMKB".

Interesting, I haven't found any information about that brand anywhere else. There are a lot of positive comments, so it must be good.

imo it's better to get modular boards with kailh switch sockets. better yet, the pcb should have side pin holes to support 5-pin pcb-mount switches.

again, if you liked it, found it interesting, and got convinced by that many positive comments, just get it.
