for switch films, you can grab them here for now, https://forum.lowyat.net/topic/4946031 (limited quantity)

tangerines is about its uhmwpe housings i guess. well, a new housing material. it might be worth trying some.

If I had known it would take this long, I might have bought from him. As annoying as it is to be forced to buy 2 bags of 100 since I need 108.

i`ve decided to give last try before installing clean os.
followed niakulah steps.
what did i do?

1.plug in usb then uninstall + delete drivers that pop out in device manager
2. repeat the steps multiple times - for me i did it for 5 times

and the problem resolved rclxm9.gif

turn out that my windows was installing multiple drivers for my ymdk96. i need to delete it one by one by plug in & unplug it back multiple times.

thank you hornsniakulah TSquovadis123 @ for all your help and guides. smile.gif
2 weeks of headache finally ended.

For those people who have filmed their switches before....would you do it again? Was it worth it?

Reason I'm asking is I just finished lubing and spring swapping all 108 switches for my new keeb last night. My films still haven't arrived and I'm itching to solder.

Will I regret not waiting for my films?

Edit: Switches are Cherry MX RGB Browns and are reasonably tight even after lubing. Some have totally no play, some have minor play. Filming would make it consistent I suppose.

i suggest to wait for them. you're using cherry mx brown rgb, switch top wobbles will happen after you opened them up.

although switches with nylon housings are less prone to switch top wobbles, i use switch films on them too. for linear switches (i think this is also true for tactile switches), i prefer to have consistent typing feel, and better singular sound.

Anyone know of any black nylon switch bottom with SMD support? Preferably in a tactile switch and with a clear top.

Closest I could find are NK Blueberries with a cream POM housing and the various Invyr/BSUN Panda housings, but no black.

Certain TTC switches come with black bottom for SMD support (one big gaping hole underneath), but the top housing does not support normal LEDs as there are no holes due to the bottom housing
SMD support.

Thanks!

Found TTC Silent Red.....at the same aliexpress shop that I bought my films from....

is it possible to convert solder switch to hot plug switch ?

Never attempted it, but you can use mill max and holtite sockets. AFAIK normal boards cannot use the Kailh hotswap sockets that most people think of when they hear hot swap.

how well do these screw-in stabs perform compared to GMK ones?
*
I read that they are pretty much same quality as GMK. I have them on my XD84PRO but I can't really do a comparison as I've never used GMK ones.

C3 are pretty nice, I have them on my XD24. I don't have PBT keycaps yet, but I hear that the problems with them are actually not that common.

owh ma bad.

n why is it sux?

Some people have had trouble with larger keys (>2U) like spacebar not returning. So far I've only read EPBT mentioned by name. Not sure if other brands of PBT keycaps have this issue.

right. filing stab housings make more practical sense.
Wouldn't it be easier to file the stab stems instead of trying to get tiny files into the housing? You could even do it with sandpaper stuck onto a flat surface.

oooooooooooo so i need 1 foam between bottom case to pcb and another foam between pcb and plate. correct?
*
It's up to you. You can do either one only, or both.

Most people do the first one because it is an easy mod. The second requires all switches to be removed so that you can get the plate off which can be quite a lot of work if the keyboard is already fully assembled.

have those switch films arrived? would like to know your opinions on the mods
*
Oh you remembered I'm waiting for my switch films? I only ranted about it ten times in this thread. laugh.gif

No they haven't arrived yet. I even ordered 2 sets from TX US after I saw on reddit that they had restocked. Clear some more which is what I wanted in the first place (and aliexpress didn't have).

USPS 7-21 business days. Come tikam which one arrive first.

Foaming the bottom case is not always a walk in the park either. Since I'm still waiting for my...you know, I'm slowly doing my bottom case. Some of the squares have 2 layers of foam. So far in this picture there are 40 individual pieces of foam that I have cut to fit the spaces. Still have at least 10 pieces to go.

Those with flat and empty bottom cases....be grateful.
