I bought an EVGA PSU, specifically the P2 version. YES, platinum version (when i know gold rating is enough). Just to have a peace of mind for years to come with it's 10 years warranty.

Unfortunately the PSU just exploded recently, so sent it for RMA.

Just today, i got a call from the shop i sent the PSU for RMA and been told that the sticker covering the screw on PSU was damaged. (The sticker 'warranty void if removed').

I have never, ever touched any screw on the PSU (except the screw for attaching PSU to PC case) because i know it is dangerous to attempt self repair on a PSU.

Now, i got accused of having opened the PSU and FUCK all my piece of mind cuz i think the PSU warranty is busted. ranting.gif bangwall.gif

What can i do now with a no-warranty PSU?

If the sticker is intact when you bought, you can fire them back. If you got picture of sticker intact, even better.

The thing is, i do not have any picture of the psu. I didnt even notice about the condition of the sticker until i have sent it for RMA. Now the shop want to return my psu back to me having said that EVGA has decided to reject my RMA request.
What can i do now with a dead psu? FML

wait for the psu to come back and examine the condition of the sticker. its not easy to damage it unless you didnt protect it properly during packaging.

maybe during "explosion" it has damaged that part?

If you're confident that you did not damage it, I strongly recommend you to go to Tribunal Pengguna and exercise your consumer rights. Usually the consumer always win.

I will check it once it arrived. The shop did sent me the picture and it really look like the sticker has been poked with screwdriver.
But i SERIOUSLY never did that.
I have attached the pic the shop sent me bout the sticker.
Just because of broken/damaged stupid sticker that i didnt cause it, i am now left with a useless PSU. such a waste of money. If EVGA really particular about the stupid sticker, they should have put a stronger sticker. FFS

maybe during "explosion" it has damaged that part?
Not sure bout that tho..maybe?

completely 100% confident i didnt damage it bangwall.gif.
How to do it tho? I don't even have any evidence to proof or backed up my claim that i do not damage it.

i never ever tinkered the PSU. I admit i'm a bit on the enthusiast part but never a hardcore one.
the most hardcore thing i did was just repair bent pins on my ryzen 1700 and replace the screen of my old laptop. that's it.
y do i need to open up the PSU when i know i got 10 years of warranty at risk?
i only do stupid stuff to self-repair sumthing (like open up my laptop and replace the screen) when the item don't have warranty anymore and i know it is the last choice to save money.
i just bought the PSU last april 2017. not even a year yet. i'm not gonna void the warranty on purpose.

This is all the info you need. The seller must proof that you deliberately damage the sticker .

considering there is a hole at the bottom of the sticker, its not that hard to break if it landed on a sharp surface.

it can happen during installation to and from the casing and packaging or shipping.

however, the alignment of the sticker hole doesnt look right at all as the screwdrivers cant reach it until more is broken, in which its obvious you wouldnt be able to touch it without tearing more.

theres not alot you can argue about, sadly. it does look flimsy.

but looking at it more, it does look suspicious as the circle is quite round, but its not on the center of the screw.

I have to wait for the psu to arrive at my home to take a better look at it 1st.

Urgh, it gonna take a whole month for normal RMA, now have to wait for courier, then inspect, then fight for this BS, then wait again.ranting.gif

More waiting to come. Maybe i should just get a new PSU.. all of this just because of a damaged stupid sticker.moneyflies.gif

If this PSU warranty will get burnt, i'm gonna be extra careful for the stupid sticker and gonna stay away from any EVGA products.

I hope no one will experience this. You guys better be careful with the 'warranty void if broken' sticker. Maybe this kind of thing is common for PC builders to know but since i didn't take extra attention to any of such sticker, this shit happen to me.. cry.gif

its not that often something happens and theres a need for rma. while its good to have warranty, ive never taken anything to rma even if it is under rma because of the delays.

i only have 1 of something, so i would just get something cheap enough within my budget and if it ever gets bad its on me.

over at countries like the US, rma is quick and efficient, but no such thing here. during iphone battery free replacement time, i need to leave my phone with them at least 1 week up to 2 weeks, and i only have 1 phone, so i just replaced the batt at 3rd party shop for around 100+. had few mouse that have left click issue, didnt bother to send for warranty as well because i dont carry 2 of everything.

I got the same EVGA power supply, its the 650W P2. How exactly your PSU exploded? I mount my PSU fan face up, the warranty sticker still in good condition.

I contacted EVGA customer service taiwan through email. The answer sure leave me suprised. I'll post the screenshot of the email later. The warranty is now confirmed has been voided. 10 years of warranty got flushed down the toilet just because of a lousy sticker.
EVGA warranty IS the warranty sticker. Warranty=sticker, literally.

I'm not sure how it exploded. It just exploded. Boom! With a flash, PC went out, socket extension dead, the wall socket got turned off by the main switch.

Just be careful with the warranty sticker. Hope u won't have such difficulty as mine. I think u won't have any problem if the sticker got no problem.

Ok. I've finished email back and forth with Taiwan EVGA customer service.
The screenshot of the email are as the attached.

WHAT A GREAT LOSS. Just from a stupid sticker.cry.gif
I have read some comments on the net just about the warranty sticker.
It seems like the sticker is the practice for companies to scam its customer and this practice can be settled in the court.
But, taking the companies to the court is a lengthy and require good amount of money.
So i been thinking to file a complain to the Tribunal Pengguna as what Mr k!nex had said.

Should i file the complain to Tribunal Pengguna? How much do i need to spend if i decided to go for Tribunal pengguna? (in term of money and time spend)confused.gif
As i am not a wealthy and always busy with work kind of person.sweat.gif
Anyone here have experience filing complain to Tribunal pengguna? Please help...icon_question.gif notworthy.gif

If you want to go to Tribunal Pengguna, you only need RM5 for the filing fees. Download the form from the website, I have given you the link. Download Form 1.
It is not like a real mahkamah. But it does have a judge . You need to attend the hearing on the fixed date by Tribunal.
If you're new to this stuff, you better pay a visit at their office, click under "Contact Us" -> "Directory" -> "Tribunal Branches' Address"

I bought it for rm615 from E tech PC in kepong. U said local distributor can settle the warranty? How to do that? E tech seem not to know how.. they also ask me to refer to EVGA Malaysia Fans page in Facebook https://www.facebook.com/evgamy/?flyingspaghettimonster=br_rs for my warranty problem. What a joke..

You may ask, usually they did, that's why they charging certain amount if the item not purchased from them, let them know your case status.

if not mistaken local distributor for EVGA PSU is Suncycle, http://www.suncycle.com.my/, you could reached out to them for your case.

Evga dont make PSU, it's rebrand from SuperFlower,
Corsair iirc use Seasonic.

EVGA PSU exploding news has been hapening since 2015.

My tough son of bit** Enermax Revolution was running since 2009 something, finally retired it at 2017 August. will keep as spare psu.
