on my first week started driving uber..i couldn't get waze to work so had to rely on google maps which is probably the worse app of all history...
i was driving a lady home..went thru a toll to make a u-turn...after u-turn, i supposed take a left turn. missed that and went back up on the toll highway again. had to make 2 more u-turns to finally drop her off.
i politely apologise and ask her to file a report to uber that i used wrong way..and she rightfully did. uber deducted a toll payment and adjusted the fare.
that was probably the worse drive i've had so far.

following waze also wrong in the eye of some rider as they have their own preference way and disregard waze claim it jam or not, still insist not jam go there, actually want to save a toll station.
*
if rider has got a preferred route/short cut, then rider should point it out to the driver. we driver can't possibly be familiar with all roads and know all short cuts. If we pandai-pandai use short cut, the rider might say we try to cheat them, especially if foreigners "why ur not using Waze??"

most of the time i'll ask the rider if its ok i follow directions given by Waze...

some riders also tried to be smart and use a way which they tot was faster/shorter but end up longer due to unexpected jam...

Waze not perfect, sometimes tried to be too smart for its own good...i remember once on a trip to KLIA, it points me to drive to INSIDE the runway rclxub.gif

but its the next best thing really

driver here. worst passenger i had was one black african lady who ate her fried chicken in car

fucking never clean hands before opening the door. spent 20 minutes parked at the roadside frantically cleaning the oily mess after dropping her off.

*
last year, final day of Aidilfitri...i picked up this malay lady in TTDI attending a raya open house function. Needless to say she's dressed to kill, heavy make-up, silky kebaya, gold neklace, shiny hair and high heels...no problem.

after dropped-off, i check the car in case she left anything behind. there's a spot of mud on my car mat and i had just washed my car. so i stop by road side to clean it.

guess what? it wasn't mud (use your imagination) cry.gif

luckily i'm using trapo as mat but still, used alot of wet tissue and half bottle water to clean it..

luckily managed to spot it...else might get report from next rider

Doesn't the uber app show where the rider is standing? My own GPS was on so she could have seen where I was, and it's the only taxi stand in the area. Ugh.
*
uber app recently started having this 'live location sharing' thingy for riders, which is even worse than without it. Imagine, rider is inside a building, it makes it almost impossible for GPS to pinpoint location. u can see the location jump from block to block...

its actually quite simple, rider choose the pickup point, and can adjust it further by moving the location pin...and then be where u selected as pickup point.

1 pick-up from Taylors' Uni in sunway. the asshole was still in class room when he ordered uber. obviously GPS cant detect him and uber pick his nearest location, which is the other end of the usual pickup point.
after i reached the pickup point shown in app only he called me to say he's in a different place. doh.gif

Also, i hope riders can be a little smarter when requesting a ride. instead of being lazy-ass and just use the 'Current Location' as pickup point, type in the name of the building. it makes life a hell lot easier and pick up can be hell lot faster. When rider select the default 'current location' it can says 1208 Jalan Sultan Ismail...i believe most ppl don't know where the fark 1208 Sultan Ismail is. But if u spend another 3 seconds and type in Shangri-la Hotel, everyone is clear.

If there's no clear building name, then the least u can do is drop the driver a msg and say things like "i'm in front of KFC" or "I'm opposite 7-11"

too many times those dumb-ass riders request for a ride, use 'current location' as pickup point, when they still inside their condo unit. GPS can easily mistaken it for next condo, next street, next house whatever. don't expect the GPS to pin u while ur sitting in the damn toilet

when pick up from condo, msg the driver ur unit number, where to pick up (lobby or guard house). sometimes, when reach guard house, guard will request for unit number. driver tried to call rider and can't get through cos rider is in the freaking lift. and few more cars behind u trying to come in also. its' really frustrating.

Gardens Hotel is quite hard to spot especially for newbie driver. She could have mix up with St Giles Hotel which is Gardens Hotel i think. U should call her and tell her shop name instead.

that row can have entrance for Garden North, Garden Residences, Garden Mall & Garden Hotel. Same to Midvalley has 4 entrance - East, South, North and Centre.

Btw that is not horror story, more like a unfortunate case.
*
tell me about it. until now, i still get very anxious when pick up from Gardens. There's north, south, st.giles, malls...and most riders don't bother to msg & say exactly where they are. and worse is, once u passed the pickup point, have to make a huge turnaround.

Midvalley is still ok..so far for me, pickup at MV is easier cos u get to select pick up point. Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Plan B, Toast Box, Northpoint...these are the usual pick up locations and its easy to spot.

One of mine is not a HORROR story but a FUNNY one.

An middle eastern wanted to go CYBERJAYA.

I reached his pick up point and he entered my car.

He said go Cyberjaya and I started trip and then see his location is a bit funny.

GPS said ROUTE NOT FOUND....

Further checking then only know he keyed in WRONG DROP OFF POINT.

His Drop Off Point was CYBER JAY which is located in FRANCE.

The fare is RM12000.

Stupid Rider !!!!
*
i had similar experiences. pick up from Sunway pyramid, and he wanna go SS13 only. somehow, on app, its shown as S13 which is somewhere in the UK rclxub.gif

i couldn't cancel the trip, he also couldn't change his destination for some reason...

at the end, i just follow his direction and drive him there.

another time, pick up from Tropicana, it says 'long distance' and when start trip, i confirm with riders if they are going JB. and they go 'WHAT??!'
they actually just wanna go nearby, but every time enter the address, it points to JB. few times she tried to change the destination, and same result.
at the end, just drive according to their direction and drop off.

i think that kinda take away my long distance quota allocation for the week...cos even tho the fare was like 5mins and RM10, it still says my dropped off point is in JB. doh.gif

Yeah, but there's a meeting point that the rider can specify the pick up at? Rider only needs to wait at the pick-up point right?  hmm.gif
*
if only.
problem with these novice riders, they don't understand the map, maybe they not bothered moving the pin. and definitely lazy to say where they are precisely.

imagine LRT station, mostly have at least 2 exit. it doesn't kill u to tell the driver which exit ur at. rider can easily walk across 2 exits, but for drivers, it might mean a HUGE u-turn to get to the other side.

this one rider was champion. i asked him which LRT exit, he replied 'the left exit' doh.gif
i was like wtf?! rclxub.gif left or right really depends on which direction ur from and which direction i'm driving from. how can i possibly know which is which??? why don't just say exit A, or C?? wouldn't that be easier for everybody??

pure dumb-a$$

And when you ask politely "do you know any shortcut you wanna use?". They'll say "you don't use Waze meh?".

And when you didn't ask and just follow the Waze, they'll say "aiyo why use this road! So far and bumpy! Use highway better!" or "why you didn't ask?! Just ask and I'll show you the shortcut!"

And when they saw you use Waze, they'll say "aiyo why you use Waze?! Use Google maps better! No wonder the road you use is so far and got toll!"

then he started talking on the phone..and suddenly, he goes "eh, why u take this way, u should turn here" and then almost immediately "oh Waze asked to use this way ar? ok ok, just follow waze"

"don't go straight, turn here." "aiyahh...this road jam arr? ok la, nevermind, just follow waze" and this went on and on and on...every few minutes he'll say the same thing! confused.gif

and he's on the phone throughout the entire trip...only tell me 'I-Should this & that' after a turn, or after an exit. whatdafuck you wan me to do?! rclxub.gif

accepted the request, while on the way to pick up point (5 mins away), she send me msg "Where Are You"

i was like rclxub.gif u expect me reply ur msg whilst i'm driving? are u like farking brain-dead? can't u see on the app where i am??

am i like ur own farking private driver who's supposed to be waiting for u?? vmad.gif

got to pick-up location at Intermark...she just finish groceries shopping. had a trolley full of stuffs...and rain was pouring mad.

had to wait a couple of minutes for her bellboy to load the stuffs into my car...

then she refuse to follow waze which say 15mins to destination...end up got stucked in traffic for 25mins using her 'usual' way...

reached the condo...i got down to open my trunk...she called out to the guard for a trolley...trolley came, she stood still expecting me to unload her stuffs...

i just stood there giving her double invisible middle finger

wasted another few minutes for her & the guard to unload...

if only there's negative star rating... ranting.gif

last nite got a request..reached the pickup point, rider no where to be seen.
called her, she said give her 5 mins.
i waited 5 mins.
then she called, say give her ANOTHER 5 mins.
i said ok again, but reminded her i will wait another 5 mins only.
after the next 5 mins, i cancelled, as i see her walking towards me. why? she showed no sign of urgency..strolling slowly like she walking pasar malam when i already waited 10 mins.

QUOTE(MeToo @ Mar 28 2018, 02:31 PM)
Your first mistake was stating google map sucks....

Anyway... I always get dumb uber rides on my way to the airport... next time I should just get a taxi limo instead of risky my flight on temperamental uber noobs.

First one... drive 5 min... "Oh you going airport? I dont have money for tol blah blah"

2nd one... "I know a short cut!"... turns out he trying to skip some tol cost by going thru some small small road that is not even officially opened yet... rushing thru 101 bumps on his tiny (axia?) damn uncomfortable...
*
instead of limo, u should've tried uberBlack...but of course, its your choice entirely...

ride-hailing drivers may not be professional drivers...which is why the rates are much cheaper than professional limo/taxi drivers.

why would drivers wanna skip any tolls since rider's the one paying them? unless of course his/her touch & go card 0 balance...which never happened to me/most drivers

go google maps, tried to route a direction from Menara Shell in Jalan Tun Sambanthan to Aloft KL Sentral..then u will understand what i mean.

also, if u drive 300km per day everyday for months, going north-south-east-west..u will also learn to appreciate waze is better than maps...

yesterday, finally migrated to grab..first day as grab driver..and it wasn't a pleasant start..
the first ride, i just passed the pickup point when request come in..i already know its behind me, but 1st ride, takkan i wanna ignore and 0% acceptance rate right? what to do, made a huge double u-turn and 15mins to get to the rider who was willing to wait...haii...

another nightmare ride, i was in sri petaling. got a ping for pickup at APU in Tech Park Malaysia. it wasn't very far, maybe 4-5km...but the traffic light was jammed up. ended up around 13 mins only reached pick up point.

i immediately call the rider and inform i'm waiting at the lobby. He said wait and i can hear in the background, he's discussing with his friends "How? the grab is here. do we take this or wait for the ambulance?" for a minutes they were discussing this and finally he told me he's coming.

i was like okiie....and a minute later, he showed up. but instead of getting into the car, he ask me to drive to the basement area, another pick up point...and he'll wait there. already a little boiling...but what to do right? so i drove there and waited another 3-4 mins. The guard then came to me and said i need to move on. So i called the rider again.

Around the same time i make the call, i can see the ambulance arriving. This time, a lady answer the call instead...and she just say, "ohh..u can cancel the ride, my ambulance is here" not even sorry...$#@%!@#$% WTF?!!

and since its grab...no cancellation fees applicable...what i get after spending 20+mins & 5km getting to the rider? cancellation rating of 12.5%

i was SOOOO %$#@$$ furious Vin Diesel would have to move aside... what the fark are we?

seriously...i don't know how grab drivers deals with cancellations since there's no compensation... riders like that matharfacker from APU can simply book, let the driver get here, THEN we see if we wanna take the ride. or, a group of friends can request rides all at the same time, and see which driver reach first and ass-fark the rest of the drivers otw to pick up...

in another word, without cancellation fees, these idiotic riders will not take it seriously..play-play, main-main.. and we drivers were deny earnings, lose precious time, money, fuel, and missed out on other potential rides.

over the course of 10 months & 1700+ rides with uber, i've encountered so many different type of cancelled rides.
1) request by mistake (??) they claim they never request
2) rider still very far away from pickup point...last minute forgot need to buy groceries after requesting a ride, or still in train some 10-15mins away
3) forgot they ordered both uber & grab and went home with the first 1 that got to him/her...
4) last minute got called up by boss while leaving office..
5) checking the traffic with me, if too jam then he/she rather take train..
6) wrong pick up location, mixed up pick-up and drop off point - terbalik

i'm pretty sure grab riders also similar, more so now that those uber riders are now grab riders...a few will call and apologize..but most will believe its their right to fark with drivers..these type of attitude really sickening..

i hope someone will start a petition to grab to impose cancellation fees on riders..totally farkup

So far i haven't use Uber service before, most of the time i use Grab service。

Grab's app is more easy to use and so far the drivers are very good for me and the fee is very reasonable.
*
i've had contradicting feedbacks from both grab & uber riders regarding fare.
last week, from Midvalley to Cheras. it was 12km trip and fare was RM20 (non-peak hour) and rider told me she normally pays RM30+ sometimes RM40+ even during non-peak hour.
if uber, i believe its more like RM15-18 non peak only.

this morning, rider told me from PJ state to paradigm mall, on uber is RM23..and on grab, RM30+
she used to pay RM3 with uber for her short trip (LRT to office) but now, its RM5...
i've had riders who swear uber cheaper, but also countless who say grab is always cheaper.

well, no more comparison now. i'm glad ur happy with grab.

QUOTE(tokyo2020 @ Apr 10 2018, 12:54 AM)
But riders can use their power to punish grab till end up like uber...

How?
*
unless there's a new player as strong as uber, then i dont see how grab's position can be shaken.

cancellation fees don't apply to 'real' riders. only riders who play-play...if you're serious bout a ride, why need to cancel? why wait till they're late before ordering a ride? we're not rider's private-hire full time driver. we don't wait at the lobby for you until the moment u need a ride. its called ride-sharing for a reason. and riders should know very well it takes time for drivers to get to them.
if riders can't wait 10 mins for a ride, especially during rush hour, then may god bless them all. all these 'expectations' while willing only to part with a few bucks....jezz...

also it works both way. riders need drivers and vice-versa. grab needs to take care of drivers too since we're their tools.
if drivers only at the losing end constantly, its a little unfair don't u think?

nahhh I always make sure myself at the stipulated place baru order grab or uber so that don't give inconvinence to them..
I give all driver 5 stars, as to me they are on the go customer service.. serving by  becoming e-hailing driver.

if only more riders like u.

when driving uber, i have this 'regular' rider. every morning, he needs a ride from his home to office in KLCC, and i pick him up regularly.
trip is very short, maybe 3km and <10mins.
but he'll order, and come down (condo) only after u arrived. and he'll be smoking a cigg as he's walking towards the car, and will stop to finish the cigg before entering the car (maybe another minute wait) total wait time usually 5-6 mins.
every morning, without fail. i always wonder how come he can't wait till get to his office only smoke? since its a very short trip.
first time pick up i gave him 2 star. then subsequent, just layan la..already know his pattern...
