Doesn't the uber app show where the rider is standing? My own GPS was on so she could have seen where I was, and it's the only taxi stand in the area. Ugh.
uber app recently started having this 'live location sharing' thingy for riders, which is even worse than without it. Imagine, rider is inside a building, it makes it almost impossible for GPS to pinpoint location. u can see the location jump from block to block...
its actually quite simple, rider choose the pickup point, and can adjust it further by moving the location pin...and then be where u selected as pickup point.
1 pick-up from Taylors' Uni in sunway. the asshole was still in class room when he ordered uber. obviously GPS cant detect him and uber pick his nearest location, which is the other end of the usual pickup point.
after i reached the pickup point shown in app only he called me to say he's in a different place.
Also, i hope riders can be a little smarter when requesting a ride. instead of being lazy-ass and just use the 'Current Location' as pickup point, type in the name of the building. it makes life a hell lot easier and pick up can be hell lot faster. When rider select the default 'current location' it can says 1208 Jalan Sultan Ismail...i believe most ppl don't know where the fark 1208 Sultan Ismail is. But if u spend another 3 seconds and type in Shangri-la Hotel, everyone is clear.
If there's no clear building name, then the least u can do is drop the driver a msg and say things like "i'm in front of KFC" or "I'm opposite 7-11"
too many times those dumb-ass riders request for a ride, use 'current location' as pickup point, when they still inside their condo unit. GPS can easily mistaken it for next condo, next street, next house whatever. don't expect the GPS to pin u while ur sitting in the damn toilet
when pick up from condo, msg the driver ur unit number, where to pick up (lobby or guard house). sometimes, when reach guard house, guard will request for unit number. driver tried to call rider and can't get through cos rider is in the freaking lift. and few more cars behind u trying to come in also. its' really frustrating.

Gardens Hotel is quite hard to spot especially for newbie driver. She could have mix up with St Giles Hotel which is Gardens Hotel i think. U should call her and tell her shop name instead.
that row can have entrance for Garden North, Garden Residences, Garden Mall & Garden Hotel. Same to Midvalley has 4 entrance - East, South, North and Centre.
Btw that is not horror story, more like a unfortunate case.
tell me about it. until now, i still get very anxious when pick up from Gardens. There's north, south, st.giles, malls...and most riders don't bother to msg & say exactly where they are. and worse is, once u passed the pickup point, have to make a huge turnaround.
Midvalley is still ok..so far for me, pickup at MV is easier cos u get to select pick up point. Starbucks, Coffee Bean, Plan B, Toast Box, Northpoint...these are the usual pick up locations and its easy to spot.
