Hi, thinking to get used Macbook Pro 2017 13.3 non touch. Its already out of warranty. Anything i should watch out for? Any common hardware issues with this model? Anyway i can get third party warranty for this since its no longer under warranty?

Battery in cycle and check on screen display condition.
The rest no issue.

Got any 3rd party warranty to cover for MacBook?
Didn't heard before, if the MacBook still under warranty or left one month end warranty, still able to buy apple care online.

As most Macs are quite reliable, nothing much to check other than its running smoothly. No known issues for recent Macs so no worry on that.

Just regular check like what Benefon has mentioned. Battery, screen, keyboard, touch surface, etc

Maybe you can ask him to do a fresh install before handing it over to you.

No 3rd party warranty or any other warranty since the original one has passed.

If lightly use my previous MacBook pro, almost 4 years just 330 cycle only.
Less than a year more or less around 100-130 cycle maximum.

So far so good. Got 2017 128gb 13 non touchbar. 51 cycle.
Love the touchpad gestures and precision vs windows touchpads.
I installed boot camp windows 10. Microsoft Office feels slow on Mac Os. So still prefer windows.
I dont know why but tidal consumes a lot of resources and drains battery.

Yeah I know but I don't intend to install many programs or apps. until I can fully utilise the Mac OS programs and learn how to use it, then I will remove the windows partition. Anyway its first time trying MacBook and Mac OS. Still not sure if I will stick with it or back to windows. if I'm ok ... I will invest in a better specced Mac in the future rclxms.gif Any tips from long time Mac user ?

even u are using mac alone (without bootcamp), u will find that 128gb is not enough to make a workable space (as built-in storage space and not extended storage space from external drive etc) for a laptop soon. smile.gif we shall see. likely that u will pay twice soon for a new mac due to this.

i can pretty much sure this is the reason why the previous owner sold this to offset the limitation. even a 4 years old iphone 6/6+ already has a storage size of 128gb as a phone.

Hopefully that will be another few years sweat.gif got it at a decent price. So might not lose much if i decide to sell off. Hope they will have better macs this year. I do have other windows laptops at home, so im not too worried on space.

confirmed they will refresh the mac for this year since 8th gen Coffee Lake Intel chip. More cores will be there even for i5 which is a good thing for coffee lake.

but design wise confirmed no change for the next two years for sure.

My 2012 mac air 8GB RAM & 256GB SSD still run smooth with bootcamp, coz bigger ssd I put 32GB as virtual memory make everything run smooth nearly like my Alienware with 16GB RAM & 256GB SSD. I'm using heavy Alienware for gaming or pure windows platform
