Music Player output improved with new firmware ( V 3.0713.1.0.1 - 05.04.2007) !!
Access to Menu items also speeded up.
Any1 noticed those improvements? Maybe some other mods?

Yup. The new firmware is only for std N73.
Definitely better sounding Music output via built-in Music Player. Better than 3rd party LCG Jukebox v2.14 (which I also hv installed) now!
Best of all... the improvement is FREE!! Just abt 7 mins of yr time online...

Those who are afraid to upgrade yr firmware...DON'T be...
I've done so 3X oledi...no prob wan!

Moving thru menu items also much faster. Lag is almost gone!

Can others confirm the improvements?

ps. It's always better to upgrade firmware. Why? Ask yrself this...Why would Nokia come out with upgrades if not need to? Now yu understand, or don't yu?

New firmware for std N73 (V 3.0713.1.0.2 - 05.04.2007) now has much BETTER RAM memory management. Clears yr HP's RAM fast.

Key in *#0000#

kenzai82 & other N73 users : Yu need to switch OFF yr HP at least ONCE a day irrespective of firmware version. Try it...

Assclown : To totally free/clear yr phone memory (RAM)! Cos after running prgs not all memory used is cleared.

My N73 has latest firmware.

Any1 knows if we still need to install the Nokia SMS Accelerator patch that is found in Nokia Support sites. That prg was in response to slow sending of sms. Prg dated 15 Sept 2006.

xenothrix : The blue LED will start blinking when yr phone goes into Sleep Mode ie 20 mins after screen saver is activated. Time of screen saver activation depends on yr settings...default 5mins.
Also mem card that comes with ME set is NOT supplied with MiniSD to SD adaptor. Only cards bought separately come packed with it.

Latest version of Search (3.04) allows yu to search for items in yr own N73...not need GPRS nor 3G at all! Like having yr own internal "Yahoo/MSN" type of search lo...hehe...just need 2key in keyword or even just a letter!
Useful if yu hv lots of items stored in yr memory card!

Suggest yu use a friend's line...1 Mbps or more if possible. I used a 1 Mbps line - takes abt 7 mins only!! Shorter time less risk.

That barcode apps? Not really of much use.
Reasons:
1. As mentioned abv, does not work all the time. Only 4some codes.
2. Does not provide info of use to ordinary ppl
3. Wastes yr battery power!

Yippee!! I've updated to latest Firmware for my std N73!!
V4.0723.2.0.1 dated 06-06-2007.

TQ Nokia!! Now me not need to spend $$ to get N73ME features! Appears 2b even better than the ME now...fr wat I've been told...hehe...

Yup...with latest FW update, ALL N73 are now N73s...haha...Equality for all!!
Except, of course, for the colour of the covers...hehe...

Update:

As with all things in this world, the BAD also comes with the GOOD! With New FW, Music Player is same as in N75ME and ctrls are now using the joystick ONLY! Other keys are DISABLED! So MORE wear & tear for tiny joystick!!

Stereo Widening feature is the BEST!!

N73ME buyers must be feeling betrayed by Nokia when Std N73 phones can hv SAME features...even better ones...than ME!!

Who would pay more to buy the ME if a vanilla/Std N73 has SAME (maybe even better) features as ME except for cover colour? Not me...Not you...nor any right-thinking person, right?

So dun think that's a bug...
Mayb yu got lots & lots mp3 and data in mem card all over inside. Like in PC HDD, will then get sec or so delay while CPU searches. Try defrag yr mem card.

Re blk line blinking, I just tested by calling my home...NO such line in my HP...sorry...
Camera focus sound...fr wat I kno, that sound has never been instant. However, biggest improvement for Camera is NO flash now is really NO flash!

Possible bug I found is with the MM Key. I could close my Music Player by pressing the MM Key again in old FW versions but now I cannot! I need to "Exit" via Options in Player.

Anyone knows anyone in Nokia Care Centres? Mayb can get an "Official" answer...

What phone model is that?

Also the FW is a newer version than earlier provided!! V4.0723.2.1.1 now instead of V4.0723.2.0.1...

Thought was newer version for same phone model, diff region only...

Can confirm V4.0723.2.0.1 N73 RM133 supports 3G. I've made 3G video calls successfully using this Firmware.

So sorry 2hear abt yr probs...
AFAIK... NSU does NOT allow updating to an earlier version of FW.... downgrades are NOT possible...
