Sliding auto gate will be heavy, mostly because the gate itself is already heavy..
But for swing or folded gate, it just like opening a normal gate without the autogate (when autogate is disengaged)..

If you can open the gate by hand during power fail, I guess can save the battery cost.

Arm type autogate cannot be push because it use something like worm gear, it basically will lock the entire arm if no movement on motor, hence for these type of autogate have to remove the lock on the edge to remove the entire arm and push the gate.

You will notice arm have no locking solenoid like the old type (underneath) or DC motor, this because worm gear basically are very strong.

Auto gate ,if power fails cannot use force to open the gate.Only way is remove the lock screw and open the gate or use battery power.
