they have a new add-on plan now - RM10 for 3GB of data, i.e. RM40 for unlimited calls and SMS + 4 GB of high speed data.

I was on Maxis corporate postpaid line, ported out to Celcom prepaid for 5 weeks, then port in to Hotlink flex without issue.

This morning got a surprise from Maxis, they are going to upgrade me from Hotlink Postpaid 40 to Hotlink Postpaid 45 but giving me a RM5 rebate every month. I suppose this rebate should be forever as long as I don't change plan.

Do check your latest bill as you might be overcharged by hotlink.

I just received my latest bill and without additional usage, my monthly bill came to RM42.55 (vs RM42.40 under Postpaid 40). Upon further investigation, here is the findings (at least for my accounts)

- The switch happened on Aug 16, and my statement date is on the 17th. So Aug billing (31 days) is prorated
- For July 17,2024 0 Aug 15, it is billed under the old plan
30/31 * RM40 = RM38.71 (RM1.29/day)
- For Aug16, it is billed under the new plan
1/31 * RM45 = RM1.45 (RM1.29/day)
- Total become RM38.71 + RM1.45 = RM40.16 (or RM42.57 after tax, round down to RM42.55)

I called customer service to point out the error in their billing calculation as the transition from postpaid 40 to postpaid 45 should be transparent to postpaid 40 customers, and customer shouldn't be paying even a single cent extra.

After additional checking, the customer service agent mentioned that the switch over happened on Aug 16, butt he RM5/month rebate only start on next billing cycle, so user need to pay the new rate (prorated) between Aug 16 to their next billing cycle. I'm not sure if everyone's statement date is on the 17th, and if the switchover to the new plan happened on Aug 16, and the gap between old plan and new plan with RM5 rebate is only 1 day like my case.

Anyway - the extra charge is removed (CS use the term waived, I told CS it shouldn't be called waiver, it should be rectification of the bill) for my accounts. I then asked the customer service agent what is Maxis going to do with the additional RM0.15/day charges for all impacted postpaid 40 customers - she just mentioned maxis will waive the extra charge IF AND ONLY IF customer call them to rectify their bill.

So check your bill and call customer service to have your bill "rectified" if you are having the same issue!

Thanks, that worked. First time paying Hotlink Postpaid and was surprised that neither Laz nor Shopee has it.
