QUOTE(goldfries @ May 7 2007, 02:45 PM) no la, just for anyone to express how far behind are they. Well, I believe that almost everyone, if not everyone, is behind one of my friends. He has easily spent RM100k on his camera system, including a 5d, 20d, 3, 70-300 DO, several L lenses, tilt and shift, and god knows what else in the past few months.

QUOTE(goldfries @ May 8 2007, 12:16 AM) About a week ago a shop in Penang quoted me 580EX (not 580EX II) for RM1620 and the boss said can still further reduce the price if really interested. I didn't buy it because wanted to wait for the 580EX II pricing first. Added on May 8, 2007, 8:20 amMy intention for starting this thread is not for showing off. It is because after reading a Hong Kong camera forum which has a similar topic, the newbies in the forum actually have a sort of idea of what to spend and what not to. I actually learnt a lot from that forum and hope to give some idea to our newbie here the same idea too. This post has been edited by macg: May 8 2007, 08:20 AM

To be honest, I'm not using Lowepro either but a backpack given to me during my camera purchase and a cheapskate tripod because I like its light-weightness. As for the flash unit, its an useful item if most of the photos are indoor and it will also improve your outdoor potrait photos too.

Unless at certain point you can totally cut and sell all your stuff..probally that will alot you get back about 60-70% of total $$ you spend... Lens value is always there Ps : I am also a few months newbie

I use those bags you find at Children's dept to put milk bottles. BOught a big one from Jusco. Lots of compartments , just the not that well padded but taken care via a thick and soft t shirt which acts to protect my camera body + lens during light drizzle. to be honest , the investment on other accessories are those which are seldom accounted for. e.g. Dry Cabinet , Cleaning kit , CPLs , Bags , memory , etc

Well, for DSLR you tend to have more than 1 lens , leaving it unutilised. I doubt there would be any difference in fungus growth as both has machanical and optical elements.

now to think about it, actually i heard about prosumers having fungus as well.. i think it has to do with the type of users and the pace of prosumers:- a) Less fussy users (at least in general comparison with d/SLR users). Maybe its there, but no one really notices anyway. Maybe when the time comes, you'd rather buy a new one anyway than getting it cleaned <-- if its possible? b) by the time the fungus is really noticeable, the prosumer could most likely be in the bin anyway, outclassed by a newer model.. haha
