rumors said price range same as note 8...but we will never know...maybe just wait official price
*
if S series price as high as current Note, we can foresee samsung will jack up price for coming Note.. that is bad.. above 3.5k is already entering absurd price range for a smartphone, at that price could buy a full-fledged computer

If samsung keep the tradition.. means we already know mostly what coming for Note 9. Similar design, with elusive upgrade features.. glad that more likely money saved for keeping Note 8 this year and wait for Note 10.. unless samsung has a surprise for Note 9..

note 9 will most probably have the on-screen fingerprint scanner
*
Great.. hopefully not just fingerprint, but front camera and sensors embedded under the display so will get the real full screen bezelless display.. since samsung has been mocking the iphone x screen.. then they better show how to do it correctly.. lol

I dont think on screen fingerprint scanner will gain much popularity without sacrificing display quality. Actually I havent used my fingerprint scanner at all for 2weeks after my finger start peeling skin. It still couldnt read properly. Been using Iris scanner and it seem to works even better nowadays.

I also been using bixby to unlock the phone. What I didnt like about bixby voice unlock is that it still try to use recognition which is not necessary. Why cant they make it so it will verify the particular short burst of voice and match the tone/pitch instead. I have been using bixby quite often ever since I discovered that it can even set off my samsung robot vacuum with just voice command. If only Samsung had the same thing for their tv and aircon (Im already using their triangle ac).
*
Combination of both fingerprint and iris scanner is useful to me.. iris scanner unlock is useful when i'm using glove (i'm working in lab). But it is not practical when in dark and driving. So fingerprint to be used. So at least for me its a bliss to have both.. Haven't really use Bixby voice unlock because if i reach out for the bixby button i might as well just tap the fingerprint scanner.. and also i just still feel awkward to talk to a phone laugh.gif

Well,  I find that iris scanner works in the dark as well. However I find that it works better if you swipe up and get the 2 circles.

As for Bixby unlock, all you need is hi Bixby and then your voice password to unlock.
*
I take that back, actually i opted to use face recognition, not iris, i just tried iris for a short period of time.. i find face recognition is easier to use than iris because no need to swipe to unlock, just press the bottom of the screen to wake screen and it unlock almost instanly.. but maybe less security but thats fine for me

The pressure sensitive sensor embedded at the bottom of the screen is one small feature that i appreciate much. Easier to wake the screen instead of reaching for button

Not sure why Samsung doesn't want to implement double tap on screen to wake up feature. Imo, this is much convenient compared to home button sensor.
*
True also, the screen double tap has been around since 2 years ago. Even my Huawei P8 Max has it.. was quite convenience to use. But accidental tap is one issue, happened to me sometimes.. so maybe pressure sensor is a more accurate method for such intention.

face unlock is insecure. can be easily fooled with photo.
worthless and false sense of security.
better disable it and use pattern lock.
*
Then someone who stole your phone must have your picture.. i.e its your relative or friend, or a professional..

Guys, android is not that secure after all.. there are plenty u can do by just booting into recovery mode, don't even need to bother about all those security.. for me the security unlock is merely to prevent someone easily unlock my phone to use without permission (i.e my wife.. shhh.. ) tongue.gif

This I agree +9999.

Worry about this worry about that, at the end, everyone is trying so hard to keep their phones as prestine as possible just for the potential 2nd hand buyer. While the owner himself didn't get to enjoy the phone till the maximum.

Anyway,  it's a matter of personal preference. I respect that. But I can't imagine myself trying so hard to let go the old phone with highest resale value. If you can find a willing buyer, good for you. But if can't, then just trade in the phone. Save the trouble and time. It may not be the best choice, but at least it's a workable method.
*
Initially, i gave up looking for screen protector.. so i did not use any.. now i also remove casing.. samsung has been trying to make this phone looks beautiful, just to be hidden in casing? Yeah i think i agree, paid so much, but didn't enjoy the phone.. sounds wrong.. i guess i'll embrace its beauty, will put casing if i'm going outdoor activity only

Ok, great. It could be possible. After all don't believe everything you read on the internet.

Anyway, one just have to take good care of their phone. By that I don't mean you have to splurge on glass sp, or whatever. It's just a simple task, taking good care of it. Would you rush to pick it up because it rang and caller is gonna hang up soon? No,  I don't. I can always call back later. Unless you're doctor perhaps. You can also dedicate a pocket for your phone which would then help you develop a habit of picking up your phone without worries. It also train your mind to be aware your phone is there and unconsciously avoid all those obstacles that may come into contact with it while it's in your pocket.

These sounds easy but how many are actually practising it. I saw many holding phone and powerbank sandwiched together in their hand. Not sure why. I would just hold the powerbank and leave the phone in my pocket. Why do I care about dropping a powerbank.

I have seen bad owners very often and I don't have to look for it. My mom is a very good example. Phones that we passed to her never survived except the RN3 (barely survived) which I quickly sold when I gave her my S6e.
*
Same, i actually did the same practice to dedicate my left pocket for phone, nothig else it it.. after about a year its become my habit.. thats why i'm more confident to use my phone naked now..

For your reading pleasure

Complicated password is still the best if you worry about security (in case you have top secret data on your phone) but anyway the whole system itself is not secured enough in which should any professional criminal or police wants your phone data they will still get it.

Otherwise, people like me just want to avoid casual non-criminal breach of personal space, hence i actually prefer the most convenient security unlock that is face recognition.

There are bound to be micro scratches if you dont use an SP or TG. From the S6E to the S7E, then the S8+ and Note 8, I still have yet to find the perfect type of SP for the curved screens. Still have yet to try the Whitestone though. Im pretty sure the S9/S9+ will be of no exception.
*
I guess its time for us to accept that micro scratches are normal. I want to remove the mentality to keep screen pristine from myself.. hell it is on use so there must be wear tear.. we got carried away with the time before gorilla glass and early days of it, in which the screen can get bad scratch, like deep apparent scratch just due to in contact with common hard materials. But it is no more, even when the phone in contact with keys in pocket, there will be just minor scratch that you only can see under well lit condition.

yes RM200 but the seller will help you to apply

just have to COD with him at MCD @ BSD

so far it seems like he is only selling for the note 8, not sure if he will carry it for the s9/s9+ hmm.gif
where as for whitestone, if you are super confident and have steady hands, then can save RM30 by buying it for RM169 and DIY nod.gif

for me i dont have the confidence, so i paid 200 to him to do it for me. haha
*
On a plot twist.. Phone with micro scratch on screen could be rm200 lower resell price than those with pristine screen.. so wink.gif

I dont see it that way, I see it as higher resell value. If you are a 2nd hand buyer if you have two choice will you a phone with scratches or additional RM100 - RM200 for a near perfect with no scratches
*
Yes, that additional 200 is like to pay back the cost of you buying expensive screen protector. So practically u get similar amount with me who don't buy sp.

But anyway both is right.. i used to be freak out when my phone is naked too.. i remember my previous S7e, only 1st month of usage, naked, fall on tar road, makes me really heartbroken, sold it off, bought another one, then the new one wrap it like crazy front back.. but end up gave up too bcoz there were simply no good sp to use..

Last time trade in S7 edge for S8+ got deduct RM1650 from samsung. Now S8+ trade in value only RM1.7k? Lol.
*
I only will opt for trade in program if my current phone condition is not very good.. such as lastime got bad scratches on bezel, they still take it at same value, they did not really care about scratch as long as there is no problem with your phone.. if phone still in very good condition, sell in garage sell easily get higher cash back..
