I think the phone is not worth it for those who are using the s8, but for those elsewhere, it's a good buy.

Have to see how the camera stacks up vs Pixel 2 and iPhone X and also Note 8 to really consider it.
*
I'm kinda pessimistic since they put so much emphasis on noise reduction and personally thats what i hate most about cameras.. over-processing and noise reduction killing details

feels like the s9/9+ is a short term fix with many many small improvements so they can go out with a huge bang when they release the s10 next year
*
On the other hand, my S7E is getting old. Don't get this S9+ also dunno what to get.

Maybe wait for X, if they really come out with a working and awesomely designed bendable screen smartphone, it's gonna change the face of the industry!

Just checked the official photo samples.

Meh

https://www.gsmarena.com/the_official_samsu...-news-29814.php

Bright light also so blotchy NR

https://cdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/reviews/18...smarena_142.jpg

Selfie... skin and texture on the guy's shirt all crapped out.

https://cdn.gsmarena.com/imgroot/reviews/18...smarena_166.jpg

Can't brain why samsung do this? This kinda lighting don't need any smoothening.

Sifus, plz enlighten me how is consider superb camera photo quality? Got example ahh?
*
What i meant is in good light.. even S7's camera can take decent enough to be not very noticeable when mixed together with photos from my fuji cameras... But only when shot in raw.

So the capability is there but the phone's image processing ruins it by over smoothening

Its not noticeable when view on small phone screen but obvious even on something larger like a notebook let alone desktop screen.

Hes saying both insecure so why not just use the more convenient one

So far I do not regret upgrading to S9+.
I also find myself use that 2x zoom function quite often, hahaha!

If you are not a heavy user (with loads of apps in the background), not a bokeh effect photo fan, and don't really use zoom function of phones, S9 is ok biggrin.gif
*
Can the zoom shoot RAW?

Just bought mine in Russia. I'm wondering what package does Samsung Malaysia give. I received AKG earphone, thumb drive to USB c converter and etc. The price is slightly higher but got free ori qi wireless charger, ori casing and curved tempered glass.

The package in the box should be the same globally, just different free gift here: HK Onyx Mini Bluetooth speaker.
*
I din't get curved tempered glass here in Taiwan.

Free gift is samsung level U wireless headphone which I don't ue.

Last night went to imos in Taipei to get their oleophobic protector but gotten tempered glass instead. Fits nicely with rugged armor case. I'm happy.

How much was it?

So last night I finally got a cheapo RM20 tempered glass installed on my S9+. It had the halo effect and worse, the touchscreen was affected - certain areas of the screen was harder to press. Sigh.. think I might go the Samsung Screen Protection route after all...
*
I got it for twd890 after discount.

I didn't go for the insurance as I'm more concerned about the oleophobic coating wearing off than scree cracking.

Edit: I had to turn ok touch sensitivity too

Won't it be worrisome to remove the Whitestone glue if in future you need to replace the screen protector? Also, will it damage the oleophobic coating present on the phone's screen surface itself?
*
I don't have the Whitestone but my s7e used something similar that required uv curing. Oleophobic coating was fine after removal.

Ya, I know. That’s the price to pay with cheapo screen protectors. I’m not willing to splash out the cash for a Whitestone or Hoda though. Would rather pay for the screen protection.

Last time i tried a RM90 TG sold by Samsung also so bad. Either cheap and sucks, or overpriced TG. Now use the silicon one. Doesn't feel good but had to make do until there's a TG worth buying, of which dunno when come out.
*
I think most screen protectors came from just a few factories regardless of the brand so just avoid those with glue only around the corner. That includes the Hoda.

Had a chat with the manager in most coat yesterday, apparently there's minor batch variation in Samsung's curve screen so while a protector is perfect fit in one S9, it may not perfectly fit in another batch.

I had the Spigen Neo Flex on my ex S8 and the X-One on my ex Note 8 previously and decided I preferred tempered glass to TPU. Anyways will try to see if the touch sensitivity settings will help with the situation otherwise I’ll look for another alternative smile.gif
*
The spigen gets scratched easily so its still a lot more cheaper to go with TG in the long term.

hard to find a good TG for curve screen, thats the problem  cry.gif
so far best for me is X-One, yes u can see wrinkle all over after few weeks, but only when the phone is off, if got OCD then sure cannot tolerate it, but when using it, hardly can notice the wrinkles.
touch sensitivity between the TPU brands, x-one is better after few days of usage. mobile outfitters i use few days and remove it already  shakehead.gif
i pair x-One with spigen tough armor, throw/drop phone onto floor few times, so far 0 issue, touchwood. but casing abit bulky and heavy  tongue.gif
*
Funny how screen protectors are still a struggle for curve screen phones after so many years.

On another note.. do u guys remap ur bixby button?

Quite sure everyone has seen this but what the heck.

I'm currently using my S9+ with Spigen Rugged Armor. While I love the case, the lip on top and bottom of the screen is quite minimal after installing TG protector.

Besides UAG, any other suggestion for case with higher lip but don't "widen" the case too much?

Ringke? But i guess bottom and upper part should be the as rugged armour.

Rhinoshield is definitely wider

QUOTE(Theoutspokenguy @ Apr 11 2018, 06:52 PM)
Wider but safer i drop my s8+ and note  8 with rhinoshield many times because if it cracked i get free screen replacement.
*
By rhinoshield u guys meant the bumper or solidsuit case?

for protection, i will always go for otterbox. so far it proves to be a very solid and reliable for drop protection.

but u have to pay for the price of added bulkiness.

Sold my solid suit due to wider width

Thanks guys.. just went to test the rhino and case-mate. Ended up with giler mahal UAG plasma instead.

What made you chose the UAG over the RhinoShield? I have the UAG Plasma, it offers good drop protection while not being bulky and feels good while holding it. Unfortunately the back is not flat which makes it incompatible with my Mountek phone mount auto-clamping mechanism. So still looking for the perfect case. Would like to test the Rhino twins.
*
I chose the UAG for same reason as you. It feels secure on hand although the main point of getting another case is I want taller corner lip over my TG protector.

Rhino crash guard bumper is too wide for my hands and I don't think the phone's glass back will survive falling flat on gravel.

Solidsuit on the other hand feels as slippery and wee bit wide than my Spigen rugged armor while the lip coverage is about the same. Also for the non-carbon, version.. I'm guessing that the matte surface will wear down and turn shiny over time.

Case-mate is too wide as well and I didn't really fancy a transparent case.

Another note is all the cases that I tried tonight has a tighter more secure fit than the Spigen... Damn they're really slipping behind these days.

Oh.. and the only thing I didn't like about the UAG is it's made in China despite being the most expensive.
