wah, u guys have lovely dogs. i have a silky too... err... depending on whether u call it mine or not... my hubby went and got one last year for my kids (my kids are both below 4!) i told him i didnt want a dog... as much as i love puppies, i think they're too much work. he said he will take care... in the end i'm the one that ended up taking it to the vet, grooming etc =| anyway, i need to cut her hair (the silky, i mean) and its always so expensive coz her hair grows quite fast...anyway, the people who sold her to me said, no need to spend money on grooming... can do urself... just put your hand between the silky's fur and cut on top of your hand... it sounds reasonably easy, but i thought maybe i should ask around to see if i can get all the advise available before i get myself cut or bitten. haha. just in case lah. so, anyone... any last words... do come and save me. haha... thanks!

sj27, ur silky bites? Hmm..why even consider buying dogs for small kids? lol they might treat them very rough and don't know thecorrect way to touch and play with a dog. Just like my lil 5 yr old cousin sister. She cut my silky's hair -.- always pulling her fur, etc etc. I think my silky has started to hate her, whenever she comes close she'll growl and snarled at her hand or something.

thats the funny thing. my silky never bit us, never bit my kids either. seems to be very fond of my kids too. my 1+ yr old son loves calling out to her. the only thing is there was 1 time, my maid came to me and said my silky bit her. but dunno lah, these maids nowadays. maybe she just wanted a day off or something. i told her as far as i know, terri (my silky) doesnt bite. and i asked her what she did to aggreviate the dog. she said she did nothing, the dog just bite... ya right...

anyway, u r definately right about little dogs being inappropriate for little kids. but too late now, right? my kids dont treat her rough though. we dont leave them unattended, and we dont let them hit the dog or pull her hair. just let them pet the dog. kids and dog both seem happy together. they just dont know how to take care of her... im actually considering selling her off so she gets a better home.... but i dont know how to explain to my kids the next time they ask for her =( anyway, for my immediate problem. i still have to cut her hair. it looks too messy.

aw pls dun sell ur dog just because of ur kids. Ur kids seems to love em. Tho my cousin sis treats my dog roughly I know she loves my dog alot. IMHO, it makes alot of difference having a dog around the house. It brings loads of happiness, cheers and laughter to the family smile.gif Please consider keeping Terri smile.gif

wah.... i said 'thinking' wor... im not gonna sell her now. its just that there are other reasons later on (next few years perhaps) that may lead to having to find her a good home. hard to explain here. some personal matters are *not* going to be posted on the board =) and not just my kids, im gonna miss her too. as much as i complain about her, i've always loved dogs. had one of my own for about 11 years. white spitz, from the time i was 13. she passed away when i was about 24 or so. so yeah. another reason y i didnt want a dog is cos i hate saying goodbye. cry.gif

Owh.. u had two kids ar? luckily i only had 1. phew~ If had 2 then getting a dog possiblity is very low..

anyway why dun u bring ur silky for grooming ? i guess her ears are full of hairs.. not good de.. grooming full 1 time takes rm80 only. i guess thats the best way to do as u know nothing about grooming. u bring her go grooming for 1 time den u learn from it lor. so u can groom ur silky next time no need to bring for grooming liao mah.
