Ice cubes are great treats for hot days... sometimes you can put some treats in an ice cube.... you can freeze a piece of fruit in it. Another cold treat is freezing yogurt in ice cube...

Mineral water contains alot of salt.... which can cause more tear stains... read it somewhere...

Any yogurt will do... of course I think it can be a bit messy lah.... so if your dog is small, make smaller ice cubes.

Dogs hate sanitary pads and those doggy pants for their heat. It makes them stress and depress sometimes.... that's why to end all discomfort to owner and dog, better just spay lah. The 1st week there will be blood stains here and there, dog lick genital area none stop, lick and lick till mouth smelly and got stains....

If males, once the testicle is fully formed, can neuter already.... 7 months onwards can already as this is practiced in Klinik Kembiri.... but I would suggest you ask the vet for his or her opinion coz different vets will follow different age.

Every dog shed.... hahahah.... but the amount is base on the coat. Shih tzus shed but not in clumps of fur.... labs and GRs shed alot for they are water dogs with oily waterproof fur.... poodles also shed but very very minimal, the fur is curled so it tends to stick and connect together, resulting in clean floors. Some short haired dogs shed more.... pugs, chihuahuas, boxers.... they shed but not too heavily.

To test shedding problem, wear a black shirt(if the dog is light coloured) and carry or hug it.... if you can find fur on you, means it really does shed but the amount you find will let you know if it is a heavy shedder or not. If dark coloured dogs, use a white shirt for this.

Some dogs do not have shedding season, while some do and it is also based on temperature and environment.

The only dog that doesn't shed would be the Xolo.... the hairless dog from mexico.

Yes, got problem. There is not much nutrition for your dog. Ceasar is just filled with gelatin, fake meat base and very little protein. By feeding loads of rice, you are just gonna make him full with empty carbs. Stick to dogfood or if you want, mix dogfood with Ceasar but mixing wet food with dry food can cause tartar build up in teeth, bad breath and also becoming a picky eater.

some dog kibbles will make them shed more if overfed. Happened to Germaine before. Shed so much. Shocking.

Recently, I notice Germaine always rub her eyes with both of her paws..I've checked her eyes..nothing wrong wo. What could it possibly be?
*
That shedding thing happened to my Chelsea before.... eat Nutro lamb and rice, shoulders botak and fur all sparse..... scary loh that time. Vet said allergy but it must have been some ingredient coz now eat Orijen, used to eat California Natural, no problem also.

Dogs normally rub and scratch their eyes when there is an irritation. You can wash her eyes out. Take cotton ball and use boiled warm water to drip water into her eyes and wipe it gently. If you Germaine got her dew claws still intact, do check her eyes often coz the dew claw can injure eyes.

QUOTE(yawhong @ Aug 30 2007, 08:17 AM)
my muffin before also like do that, in the end something inside the eyes come out and need do operation. So when it continue do that better stop it, or else u may see something red come out. than u have to pay around rm400 for vet
*
Red like a small ball rite? That is called Cherry eye.... I think it is the infection of the third eye lid....

The ears can start to stand erect once they reach 8 weeks.... normally by 5 to 6 months should have nice standing ears. Some puppies can take longer... but it also depends on the genes, parents got nice ears or not.

That's how it goes. All my sales threads also go down, I don't complain coz Garage Sales is like that. If people are interested, they would look at GS to find. But in LYN, everyone wants the cheapest they can get. So if you want to move your thread, offer cheaper price. If not, no one would bother. That's how it goes. Also, selling dogs should is never easy and never fast. It takes time. If your friend is really desperate, then advertise in newspaper classifieds.

It depends. Some sell it for about your friend's price, some lower. My friend did get 1 pup with cert for RM700 a year ago. The lowest for no cert is RM500.

When in LYN, not everyone is looking for a pup, some got theirs already, some sourced else where. Here people all see price. They also would view quality but rarely here, I see LYN members all just want the cheapest. You also must take into consideration that there are other people selling dogs of different breeds as well.... so if the price is not right, they would turn to others.

I have merged the threads..... Conangirl, please do not open new threads. There is a puppy training guide here, search for it.

Anyway, puppies are babies. When you bring a baby home, do you think the baby would understand how to pee and poo in the toilet bowl? Do you think a baby would know how to stop crying when you say the word NO?

A puppy is the same. You must remember, it is like a baby, with no knowledge. It doesn't understand our words as we do not speak dog, nor does a dog speak human but they learn through experience, knowledge and the tone of our voice.

NewbieBetta gave you good basic advice already. That is the basics. If you still have problems, then get hold of a puppy training book. So many of these books are available at bookshops, be it new or secondhand.

Most of us here took weeks to months and years to train our dogs. We did not train them in just a few hours for them to magically understand everything. Some puppies are natural learners, they pick things fast but some are stubborn and slow, so you must be patient and consistent. Never blow your temper, never hit or scold, only scold or punish immediately after a wrong doing......

You got lots to learn, not just the puppy. You still have not even shown to your pup that you are the pack leader, so you don't get it's respect yet.

Well, what chrisoys have shared is useful. If we do breed, we must do it properly, breed for quality, not for quantity..... yes, there is a demand for silky puppies in the pet trade.... but we must not breed blindly..... if the dog is not of standards, then spay him/her so that it doesn't spoil the breed standards for future breedings.

There is much to learn. The best to learn is through the guidance and experience from a good breeder. I do agree that some of the words in that statement were different from what chrisoys stated months ago.....

Anyway, learn and be humble.

QUOTE(Juztiny @ Jan 15 2008, 11:39 PM)
Actually I don't see anything wrong with using human shampoo on pet  or feeding Eukanuba.  As long as the dog's gene is good, it won't have allergy problem etc.  Only those dogs genetically sensitive will have impactful skin allergy problem towards any kind of products.  I did feed Eukanuba and use human conditioner on my dogs too.
*
Once I used human shampoo, tearless baby shampoo.... the foam got into my dog's eyes when she was giving me a hard time cleaning her face. Then her eyes turn cloudy grey, I thought blind. Went to vet, they told me that we should not use human shampoo coz the ph is not the same, so it results in hurting the eyes and giving skin allergies to some. Now I never use human shampoo anymore.... but conditioner got lah.
