becaz PC fair become Mobile phone promotion fair + Credit Card Fair...

somemore "promotion price" still expensive than Law Yat...

That the reason why less ppl got interest to visit the fair

Bought my first pc in pc fair...way back in 1995. That time it was in PWTC.
on a side note, ext drives and pendrives are very cheap during the pc fair. Last year in mid valley happen go during a pc fair and it was the last day. WD ext drive was going for RM180 for 1TB

few weeks before pc fair, prices in shop will always increase

then come pc fair, they give so called "promo price" but it's just normal price before the hike.

back then when IT stuff was booming because alot of stuff was just starting to be introduce to market. external HDD for example.

nowadays those are the norm and their price is not so different than the normal day in normal store. also added to some issue like seller gone missing after the fair so its no longer getting any attraction from the masses.

I visit the fair each time they organize till year 2012, ever since that I stop it and only drop by if only i have a lot of free time

The fair before that are full of
> Latest technologies
> Tech talks
> New products launch \ road shows
> Booth girls, the best thing and the most exciting moment we waiting for rclxms.gif
> Cheap lelong stuffs

After 2012, all are about
> Power bank
> Pen drive, External HDD, Memory cards
> Printers
> Laptop
> Credit Cards vmad.gif
> Mobile lines
> All of above no discount at all

I will totally agree if someone tells me that PIKOM "PC Fair" is a failure now

I went to the recent PC fair (it wasn't Pikom right?) in Midvalley, Illegear got a booth showcasing their laptops so you can feel it if you are interested in buying them online. Same goes to MSI, Asus, Dell and Acer but since you can easily find them around Klang Valley so not that significant.

Then the Asus and Seagate booth which give pretty good discounts for stuff like routers, and external hard disk which is competitive to online pricing.

Don't see much printers and powerbank around now, but the usual telco, credit card, insurance booths are still there.

There's seem to be this new niche which quite a few stores are selling - Huge RGB mobile speakers. Seriously who uses that?

Sometime buy online more cheaper than PC Fair.
PC Fair need to pay booth / lodging staffs & need to carry stuff to sell.
In the past there were not many company make sales online

I remember the hay days... back in 1996-1999 PC Fair... it was like Malaysia's very own "E3" tongue.gif

It was so packed... you could barely move.

It was like night market but selling PC hardware.

Then... as the years went by, it started dying down.

The last one I went probably in 2011 and it was so deserted.

Flash forward, 2018, online purchases > going to ANY fairs.

No more computer exhibition in KL?
There is still Audio Video exhibition every year in KL.
Nowadays I also stopped invest in new PC hardware / software,
instead I bought a turntable to play old vinyl collections.

Nowadays with lots of movies/drama series come from the iptv, (AppleTV, androidTV...etc)
people most likely would invest in Audio Video equipment like FullHD projector, AV receiver, speakers...etc.
