I don't really like Poon choi , just a mish mash of different items plunked into one container.

It's not a CNY dish whilst I was growing up n throughout my young adult years. Just few years back it trended n now pipul think of it as a CNY dish.

I still don't count it as a CNY dish, do you?

Was it a CNY dish while u were growing up?

WTF is the dish.

My favourite are steam chicken, roast pork, crispy duck, steam red kerapu/soonhock/white promfet and vege.

Abalone must be tender, not chewing gum type.

Soup, need not be sharksfin.

And no baby pig, I don't eat babies.

Eat at restaurant really expensive. So this years we make our own poon choy. Mix with prawn, roasted duck, ayam mas, tungku, moku and can abalone.

Its a cheapo fatt tiu chong - similar method, crap ingredients

Trended like 10 years ago, I believe it was featured in HK drama or TVB or someth, then restaurants here started offering

Got people think of it as a traditional CNY dish ke? Must be really young people

I like something different this year. Kerapu fish head curry and white rice. I doubt the restaurants will cook them during CNY. Don't ask me or my family to cook fish head curry, we dont have the skills to blend spices.
